Getting weird when choosing colors for drawing skin

One of the biggest things I learned from my upcoming art study of Khary Randolph's work is that you can have a lot of fun with the colors of skin!

Truthfully, it seems like the base color only matters a bit if you have strong lighting. The highlights and bounce lights on the skin will completely change the color. You can even have a fairly saturated blue or yellow and it'll still look properly like skin!

This doesn't mean you can completely forget about the base color of the skin. Even in strong lighting situations, there are going to be areas of the skin not fully in the light or shadow.

This is definitely something I'm going to have to study some more!

I've found myself trying to draw skin more lately; working on subsurface scattering and wrinkles and whatnot, so I decided to try my hand at drawing a flesh orb. The florb, if you will.
