What counts is not necessarily the size of the fan base in the fight - It’s the size of the fight in the fan base.

We’ve been fighting for renewal for awhile now and most methods have been all online.  Which have all been fantastic so we totally want to keep it up!  

But I thought this week lets go old school and write into ABC! 

So here’s the plan:

To help show how wide reaching our small but active fan base is everyone pick up some post cards from where you live and mail them into ABC.

And on it just a simple Message: Please Renew Agents of Shield!

Before dropping your postcard in the mail share it on Social Media as well with the standard Hashtags we’ve been using, #AgentsOfShield #RenewAgentsOfShield, and my new favorite #SmallButActiveFanBase

Now where to send it was a bit of a challenge and @ughfitz has found a few addresses that work.  You can choose one or all 4...whatever you can do.

At this point I am just so happy it has been renewed and as of right now it is NOT a final season!!! If only we had 22 episodes, but I am not going to complain! Agents of SHIELD season 6!!!!!

My day on AOS’s S5 Wrapping Day Set

There are a few things I need to make clear first: 

I was invited on set because Maurissa knew me from the WonderCon signing.

This EPIC experience was possible because of luck and the kindness of Maurissa, Clark, Chloe and the rest of the amazing crew.

I love and respect the show with all my heart. I asked multiple crew members, security guards and even Maurissa and Clark to make sure that it was ok for me to stay there and watch. If they said no I would’ve left becase I do not want to cause any inconvenience to them.

I genuinely appreciate how they trusted me enough to bring me on set and WILL NOT share any detail about the shooting itself.(In short, NO SPOILERS INCLUDED)

Also, As a non-native English speaker, I apologize in advance if what I wrote does not make any sense.

OK SO IT GOES!

Getting to the set

I knew where they were shooting was just 10 min away from me, but I didn’t go because I was afraid that I’d disturb them. When I saw a picture of a fan with Chloe on set, I told Sarah that I wanted to go so badly it was torture. Sarah was like “ARE YOU CRAZY GO GO GO.”  Zoe and Ari were also telling me to go, and they even sent me a more detailed location of the place where their filming. Honestly, none of this would happen without you guys!!!

I thought it would be easy to spot the place where they were shooting because you can’t miss a blocked road, can you? However, I forgot I was in DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES. Honestly from a distance, it just looked like horrible traffic, which is common in DTLA.

Because of the shooting, the sidewalk was blocked. Some passengers seemed a bit irritated, but I was so EXCITED -- it meant they were still shooting!!! When I walked cross the road with the other pedestrians, I got a much better view and could already see Chloe and Clark, who was visiting. To make sure that I was not violating any rules by standing there, I went to the security guard, told him I was a fan of the show and asked him if it was ok for me to stand there and watch. He was so nice and told me not to be so scared. He let me stand next to him, which was really close to the set.

While we were talking, Chloe took a break and was drinking a huge cup of coffee(it was a really long day for her and everyone on set). I saw her, so I waved at her, and she waved back at me, looking really tired. That was a really awkward moment, and I just wanted to hide away at that point. Soon she was called back to set so I went back to where I was standing and continued watching them filming, talking to that super nice security guard from time to time.

And that’s when I saw Mo and Clark crossing the road!

I began screaming(with my indoor voice) to the security guard: “OMG OMG that’s their producer!!!!” But when I looked more closely, I realized there was a guy walking with her, and that was CLARK!!!!!! I felt like I was about to explode at that point. As soon as they crossed the road safely, I walked up to them to say hi.

Maurissa recognized me and introduced me to Clark(she asked me about my name first because I was too excited during the signing that I for forgot to tell her my name).

Mo: “Evelyn, this is Clark.” Clark: “Hi Evelyn! It’s nice to meet you!”   Me: COMPLETELY FROZEN

She told Clark about how the show has inspired me to study science in USC(because I was still frozen from surprise and excitement) and Clark looked really proud and said so many nice things, but I forgot the exact words because I was freaking out inside. He was amazed by Maurissa’s incredible memory (as did I). They also talked about how it’s kind of a pity that Clark missed WonderCon(but that’s for a good cause tho!).

I asked them if I could get a picture with them. Maurissa offered to take it for us, but I really wanted a picture with both of them. So we asked another staff(thank you!) on set to take the picture for us.

When I calmed down a little, I told them that I am a huge fan of the show for years (which was quite obvious) and all I wanted to do was to stand here and watch. I would hate to disturb them or cause any inconvenience. Both of them said it was fine and told me they were coming back later(but I didn’t know what it meant yet). They told me to feel free to watch and that as long as I don’t take any spoilery pictures, I would be fine. So I nodded gratefully and watched them left.

Getting invited to THE SET

I went back to where I was standing before. Seeing me come back the security guard offered me his chair(he was just so nice). It’s been a long day for him, so I told him it’s fine. Nonetheless, he insisted and even got me an unopened bottle water. Since I couldn’t refuse him, I sat on the chair and kept watching them filming.

Clark and Maurissa came back a bit later. They saw me sitting on the chair and said Hi to me but was stopped by the security who did not know them. Once they explained who they were, the security let them pass, but then they turned back to me and said:

“Evelyn do you want to see the set? Why don’t you come with us???”

At that very moment I was like: Can I?????????????????????????????????

Both of them smiled and said: 

“Yes. Just come with us!”

I was so shocked that I could feel my legs shaking when I stood up from the chair. The security smiled at me and said: “Told you (that) you don’t have to be so scared.” But Clark, standing from a distance, though he was trying to stop me from going to the set with them, so he went over and said: 

“It’s OK! She’s with me! Come on Evelyn!”

 (Me: *??&%&^%$?!%^%&)

I thought they were just taking me into the set and let me watch from a distance, so I stopped walking with them. Seeing me not following, they turned back again and gestured at me: “Come on over here! It’s ok!” During our short walk to the director’s tent, Clark kept introducing me to everyone that we met. He was like: “This is Evelyn! Look it’s Evelyn! Did you meet Evelyn? Say hi to Evelyn!” He even went to Jeph Loeb and said: “Have you met Evelyn?” He was so sweet and nice, and I was so shocked and happy that I want to cry and laugh at the same time.

Being on set

They took me to Karen and introduced us to each other. Karen gave me a consent form to sign which was basically about not leaking any spoilers. And then Maurissa pointed at the chair next to her and told me to feel free to sit there and watch. She even offered to take a picture of me sitting there so that “you could show it to my friends,” as she said. SHE IS THE BEST HUMAN-BEING IN THE WORLD. Maurissa was so so so caring and sweet and everything nice. She brought me bottled water and went away for a little while. When she came back, she brought me a coke(which I still haven’t opened yet it’s too precious to me). She was sitting beside me and chatting with me whenever she had free time.

Another writer(who was really nice and chatted with me when Maurissa’s gone but I didn’t catch his name I’m so sorry) was also there asked me about how I knew Maurissa. But the truth was that I was there only because she was so nice.

After a while, Chloe finally got a break. She directly walked toward the tent from the main set. Maurissa began to introduce me to her, but Chloe also remembered me from the signings before. She walked to me (at that moment I felt like she’s 100% Daisy Johnson) and said: 

“I know you!! You’re here! Thank you for your card and gifts and everything! How have you been?” 

I was frozen for the 100th time as she came closer and closer to me. She said: 

“I would hug you but I’m so dusty(pointed to herself).” 

and that when I finally stood up and said: “NO NO NO NO I WOULDN’T MIND(Like, who would???)”. She hugged me and asked me more about how I’ve been and all I could say was “good.”

I asked her if I could get a picture with her. She said SURE and was about to take my phone. But Maurissa, being an angel, offered to take with a picture for us. We moved from the tent to outside where the lighting is better, found an angle that wouldn’t spoil anything and took the picture.

Whenever I look at the picture I felt like the person taking a photo with me was Daisy Johnson herself instead of Chloe Bennet

I asked Chloe if we could get a selfie. She’s like “YEAH SURE” and happily took my phone. 

As soon as she opened the phone and turned on the camera, she switched to a different mode(selfie-lover mode?). She shook her head for to shake off the dust on her hair before putting her face so close to mine. 

We took three selfies, and to me, she’s like a really adorable puppy!

I told her about how I joined a communication lab in our school that studies and fight for diversity and equality in Entertainment business(search #inclusionrider / Stacy Smith) because she helped me realize the issue. My brain was frozen and I utterly forgot the words “inclusion initiative,” which is the name of our lab. I had to describe the lab with the very limited English vocabularies that I had access to at that moment, which is probably really confusing. 

But when I finished, Chloe looked so proud and said: “That’s so nice! Get over here!”, raising her hand to high-five me.

 I was about to say Happy Birthday to her, BUT they needed her on set(A THOUSAND REGRETS but at least I did get her birthday presents?) She’s like “ohhh I really need to eat” so she grabbed a few french fries, stuffed them into her mouth and ran back to set.

I went back to the director’s tent. Mo and I began chatting and here are some fragments of the conversations that I still remember.

Mo: “It’s so long(the shooting) isn’t it?” Me: “BUT IT’S SO AMAZING!!!!!!!”(honestly, I’d happily stay there for 10 hours without getting tired) Mo: “We are shooting our last scene, so everything is spoilery for you.” Me: “I know! I’ll just pretend that I didn’t see anything.” Mo: “Have you been watching the show from the very beginning?” Me: “YESSS” Mo: “And now you are on set!” Me: “YESSSSSS. I can’t believe I’m not crying.” Mo: “How long have you been living in LA?” Me: “Almost two years? I came here for college, and now I’m a sophomore.” Mo: “Wow… Sophomore in college, that’s a long time ago to me.”

I told her how I would watch the show every week. When the 100th episode aired, I was in a random restaurant, but I still convinced the owner to switch their TV to ABC so that I could watch it(even though I can’t really hear anything). I also told her there’s a lot of fans in China. Although most of us can’t really contribute to the audience rating, we do love and care about the show so much. She also asked me if Chloe’s my favorite. As you guys can see she is absolutely one of my favorites, but as a huge fan of the show I LOVE everyone. So instead of listing everyone in the show, I said: “You are my favorite. ” Because she really is. Seeing Mo on set was amazing. She’s always so calm and smiling. When she talked, she talked slowly, and her voice was calm and quiet, yet you can feel the strength underneath. As far as I could tell, everyone on the set genuinely respects her. She does not need to yell or act powerfully to be powerful. She IS powerful. When you actually met her, you would know how the show has created all these strong and powerful women characters--it has a strong, powerful woman as producer.

Mo went back on the set when they wrapped. They were hugging and congratulating each other. It was so beautiful, and it meant so much to me to be able to see my favorite show wrap their last scene of the season. I didn’t walk any closer or take any picture because I didn’t want to ruin the moment for them. They deserve this. In the end, I went back to Maurissa and said thank you to her one last time. We got one last picture together (with Jed and Jeph), hugged, and said goodbye to each other.

The End

As a fan of the show from the very beginning, I’d say all my wildest dreams have already come true this day.

In the end, I want to “thank you” everyone. To Mel who, even though was super busy working, smiled at me when I walked by her. To Karen who took care of everything and made sure that I was comfortable. To the writer who chatted with me when Maurissa was gone.(I’m so sorry but I forgot his name. I was too nervous and am always really bad at remembering names.) To Clark who told everyone I was with him and introduced me to everyone on set (It’s like he IS Coulson in real life) To Chloe who, after a long day of shooting, still came over during her short break to say hi to me, thank me for the birthday presents I gave to her last time, took selfies with me, talked to me until she has to go back to set. To Maurissa who recognized me, trusted me enough to graciously invited me to the set. Who brought water and soda to me and kept me company. Who showed me what a strong female leader looked like. When I said she was my favorite, I truly meant it. To the show and all the staff members, producers and actors of the show. For all the inspirations it gave me in the past years. For motivating me to be a better person in so many different ways. For being so so caring to your “small but active fanbase”. I couldn’t be happier for being a fan for the past five years, here’s to many years more. Please enjoy the hiatus, and, hopefully, I will see you for another season.

Because YOU deserve a season 6.
