Hehe fair point. Am still sorting out his mental state here. (And I was already planning for Stroud to stay behind; just figuring out how and why. ;) Poor Stroud.)
But yeah. Mostly Elliot is just a very angry person in general and very angry and unnerved by the current situation, and angry unnerved people do kneejerk things. (Elliot’s certainly a master at them.) And he hate-fears demons of all sorts pretty passionately -- and given the nightmares he’s fought over his lifetime this particular demon probably strikes pretty close to the bone. :P So if he did stay behind it would be for that reason.
He’s probably not actually gonna do it though.

If I remember right the slide was talking about Inquisition’s elves and elven servants across Thedas. Basically spies and impoverished, who either already served Fen'Harel or have little to lose.
It troubles me still, like I got that they were talking about those who weren’t in a stable place or were really impoverished. I think the thing that irks me most that it’s the Inquisiton’s elves, when by and large the Inquisition seems to have some of the best career opportunity/stability/comfort for elves in Thedas outside of the Wardens. While I’m sure for every Charter, Jana, or Loranil, there is a kitchen servant, gardener, or stablehand, it seems... disingenuous that they would leave en masse.
Is it possible that some of those elves worked with Solas and grew to trust him and see that he was a principled person? Absolutely. But the same can be said of Lavellan...
(But the fact that the servants of Orlais [as Sera was v aware that no one in Hamalshiral was complaining] were like “Nope! bye losers!” isn’t shocking at all.)
Solas talking about elven beards has been confirmed to be a mistake on his writer's part. Elves still do not have facial hair.
