I wasn’t satisfied with Martyn’s Rats smp ending lore. Like, at all.

So um, I MIGHT have written them an epilogue. Maybe.

I’m not a professional, so it’s not great, but still.

To see your face again

The Captain sighed as he placed his glass of Sangria back down on the table. He was back in London after basically travelling the globe. He had been from Paris, to London, to Murices, through Asia and over to New York, stopping by California on the way. Just like they had planned, all those many months ago.

He sighed again as he picked his Sangria back up and started swirling it around in the glass.

“Still drinking Sangria i see?” A voice said from behind him.

That voice.

It- it couldn’t be. Right? Surely not, surely…

Ren whipped around almost immediately, and he could not believe the sight that met his eyes.

Him.

“Lieutenant?” He managed, throat suddenly dry despite the Sangria he had been drinking mere moments ago.

It really was him.

“Long time no see Captain!” Martyn replied, with a huge smile on his face. The same smile with that little hint of mischief that he had loved so, back in Paris. The same smile that he hadn’t seen in so damn long.

“Lieutenant!!” Ren cried as he flung himself at the other, arms wrapping tight around his middle, afraid to ever let go. “Oh Mratyn, how i missed you!”

Martyn froze.

“What is it?” Ren asked, pulling back. Not quite all the way, not quite letting go, but enough that he could see his Lieutenant's face.

“You've never called me that, before.” Martyn said, his voice and face full of disbelief. (But with a hint of fondness that Ren probably would have missed, had he not been paying so close attention.)

“No. You’re right. Is there a problem with that?” Ren asked. “No- no, not at all. I-” Martyn stuttered, laughing. Ren basked in that sound, the soft glowing of his voice, of his laugh. Truly the most beautiful sound he had ever heard.

“Mratyn.” Ren said, gently cupping Martyn's face. “You are far more to me than just my Lieutenant. I hope you know that.”

Martyn placed a hand on Ren's, gently leaning into it. “Mratyn.” “Mm?”

“I love you.” He whispered, gently.

A soft blush formed across Martyn's face as Ren's words slowly sank in.

“I- I love you too” he said, reaching out his hand to cup Ren's cheek, before slowly leaning closer, and closer, and closer.

Until there was no more space left to lean into. ♡

That plot twist was so well executed I’m still reeling I just watched the stream and oh my god he really did say that. He truly really very much did just say that. How did we fall for his facade.

I went MAD when I saw this post, I'm so excited!!! Treebark in Rats 2!! And they're teammates/roomates/piratemates/mateys!! It's gonna be amazing I just know it.
