Einstein defines insanity as doing something over and over again and expecting a different result.
This is not the first time that I've had to remind myself of this.
Maybe it's because, to me, when I hear "repeat", I think of all the days I spent in choir where my director would drill into our minds that even if we were singing the same line, it should always sound different.
To accomplish this, we would use the musical elements to make repeats sound unique, interesting. By adding a simple crescendo, or changing the dynamic, a person can make the same phrase sound completely new.
Maybe this is why I'm so prone to insanity.
