Relaxing thing of the day:
Dilmah tea! (and just tea in general) I have a friend that is a tea snob. That isn’t to say I’m not a tea snob. In fact both of the moderators of this page drink tea quite heavily. That is to say that my friend is VERY specific about her tea. She tends to drink specific kinds, and the water had better be boiling when she goes to steep it. Now, normally I’m a big fan of loose leaf teas when I’m at home (It sometimes seems like I can taste the bag otherwise), but this friend turned me on to an excellent bagged tea. Dilmah. Both my friend and I agree that our favorite thing about this tea is that if you forget about it while it's steeping (which I do quite often, whoops), it doesn’t go bitter. I’ve never had bagged tea before that stayed sweet tasting if you accidentally leave the bag in too long, but this tea somehow does. http://www.dilmahtea.com/our-tea-selection
ASMR triggers are certain sounds or stimuli that give you the tingles. In this article we will be listing the most common ASMR triggers.
I discovered ASMR when I was having a lot of insomnia issues due to anxiety. Listening to ASMR helped me fall asleep within minutes instead of hours. I still use it to fall asleep as well as to calm myself when my anxiety is high. It's an excellent tool that I'm really passionate about.
Sensory Processing Disorder
Time to learn something!
Have you ever noticed yourself having stronger reactions to things than the people around you? Or maybe not reacting to things that other people probably would?
This could be due to a problem with sensory processing.
Sensory processing, or sensory integration, is the ability of a person’s brain to interpret the signals it receives from their senses. Sometimes this doesn’t work quite right, causing strong reactions in people to seemingly minor stimuli, or sometimes it works in the opposite direction instead, and makes people under responsive to things, making them seem indifferent to things, or even causing them to seek out certain sensory stimulation.
Now, I wouldn’t say I have Sensory Processing Disorder, but just some sensory integration examples from my everyday life include:
I remember as a kid throwing a fit about wearing socks, because the seams on the toes were unbearably painful to me. Same with jeans. The stiff fabric around the waist was horrible and rubbed and cut in.
In third grade, the teacher turned off one set of the fluorescent lights because I was getting headaches.
I can’t listen to jazz music in the car, because trumpets and sometimes guitars sound painfully loud to me.
On the other hand, I have a driving urge to touch anything that looks soft. I don’t understand how people don’t go hug all the towels at the store. Or why they wouldn’t want to. They are so… texturally pleasant. Why am I the only one hugging all these towels, darn it!?
