Can’t wait to have a ChatGPT ad played in the senate floor because someone didn’t pay 300$ to their subscription

SAME ,but really though bound to happen at this point! 😂
This is wild! 🤖📋
-AI tools are now officially permitted for Senate staff instead of being unofficial or restricted.
-They’re expected to assist with administrative and research work, not replace decision making.
- It really shows that governments are starting to integrate AI into everyday policy and administrative work.
I can't wait till Chat GPT gets something wrong in an official document/memo and it's just accepted into truth/signed in as law at this point!
Enshitification is truly taking hold with all of this AI bs!

(Thank you Anon for the news :) 👍❤️! I couldn't get on the NY Times because they are charging their users now ,but I read multiple articles on it!)
when you contact your government representative/officials about a matter, do you check their thoughts/statements first? (e.g. do you see if they’ve already said they’re going to vote yes/no)
yes i check and i only call if they are not planning to do what i want
yes i check but i call regardless
no i don’t check, i just call
i do not contact my representatives/government officials
other (pls add in the comments or tags!)
i said call but it could also be email/write/whatever else
please share your reasoning in the comments/tags!!
(also please share your country in the tags, if comfortable!)
hey does anyone know how to how you figure out what you can ask representative to work on like is there anyway you can put pressure on other representatives as well?
Like I need to do something about the state of the country because I don’t want to live in the state of the country and people don’t deserve this, but I don’t know what to do please help
Please give me links
It has been another week. What has happened? A lot. Is it worth it to talk to our Representatives if they are Republicans? What happened to Eric Adams' corruption charges? What should we do in the future? All this and more on Social Justice Alchemy. Come and join us. Bring your questions too.
Congress votes against checking Donald Trump
House of Representatives (Dec 17, 2025):
House Democrats forced two war powers resolutions aimed at limiting President Trump’s authority to use military force related to Venezuela or “narco-terrorist” designations — including actions that could escalate toward war. Both were narrowly defeated: one 210–216 and the other 211–213. Common Dreams
Senate (earlier in Nov 2025): A bipartisan war powers resolution in the Senate to prevent unauthorized strikes or war against Venezuela failed as well, with Republicans blocking it despite Democratic support. Navy Times
🧑⚖️ Which Democrats Didn’t Support the House Measures?
In the House vote:
Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar (TX) and Vicente González (TX) voted against at least one of the war-powers resolutions. Common Dreams
That means most Democrats did support the measures, but a small minority joined Republicans in opposing them, which helped contribute to the resolutions’ defeats.
All Senate Democrats supported the resolution and voted in favor of it.
The only senators outside that Democratic bloc who voted in favor were two Republicans (Rand Paul and Lisa Murkowski).
📌 Earlier Senate War Powers Vote (related to boat strikes)
There was a prior Senate vote on a war-powers resolution aiming to stop continued U.S. strikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels near Venezuelan waters (and which could escalate the conflict). That vote was earlier in October and also failed (48–51). In that vote:
Nearly all Senate Democrats supported the resolution. CBS News
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) broke ranks and voted with Republicans against it. CBS News
That earlier vote shows that at least one Democratic senator did vote against a war powers check in the Senate in October — John Fetterman. CBS News
🧠 Why This Matters
These votes weren’t formal declarations of war — they were War Powers resolutions intended to assert Congress’s constitutional authority and force a check on the president’s military actions in the Caribbean and toward Venezuela. Critics argue the administration is expanding military engagement without clear authorization from Congress. AP News
🧩 Broader Context
The Trump administration has engaged in strikes on vessels, killed nearly 100 people in those operations, and has imposed a blockade on Venezuelan oil — all of which critics say could escalate tensions further. Reuters
Democrats and some Republicans have pushed war powers votes as a constitutional check, but Republican leadership has largely prevented restrictions from passing. GV Wire
