Psalm 33:12: Blessed is the Nation whose God is the LORD!
As children of God, we have a specific responsibility toward our homeland, i.e. praying for the salvation of its people and the peace and prosperity of our great nation.
Timothy 2:1-2, the Bible tells us “ I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Jeremiah, the prophet tells us, "Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7.
PRAYER:
Lord, reign over our nation with Your justice and righteousness. Raise godly leaders who will honour You in governance. Let the gospel spread with power to every tribe, tongue, and nation. We repent of the sins of our nation—show us mercy, O Lord. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our nation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
