This is the little man that started it all.
This is my gerbil Fred. He and his brother George were my first ever pets that I completely cared for 100% on my own. I adopted them as babies when two adult gerbils and an unwanted litter of babies were surrendered to my friend to be rehomed. I was very lonely at college and craved companionship, so when I heard about the situation I jumped at the opportunity to take a pair of the babies home. Unfortunately, George passed away last year due to an unknown illness (may he rest in peace ) so now Fred lives by himself. I adopted Pete so they could bond, but they hate each other so that kinda backfired 🙃
Anyway, Fred’s second gotcha day is coming up in November so he’s getting a little old but he’s still as spunky as ever. He loves destroying cardboard and picking out all the sunflower seeds out of his food mix. He’s definitely my friendliest small pet and he loves hanging out on my bed with me while I read or work on my laptop. And surprisingly he gets along really well with my dog (but I never let them around each other without supervision!) I love this little dude with all my heart and people think I’m weird for being almost 23 years old with pet gerbils, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
