Data Analysis Questions:
For this specific assignment, I have a few necessary questions in order to complete the draft successfully. I submitted the required data for week 9 and followed the guidelines from the D2L content as well as chapter three of our textbook, however there was no instruction on how much data was needed. It stated that the data must be useful to answering our research question, so does that mean it was up to the individual's selection?
For my project, I collected engagement data, on three posts and three pieces of video content within each of the three creators pages. This added up to six pieces of content gathered for each account. Is six enough to complete this assignment successfully? Will there be feedback given on if our data gathered is substantial, or if more is necessary?
When creating our graphs, again is this up to our individual discretion on what will answer our research question the best? And should this be a large chunk of our analysis and explanation?
These are some of the concepts I am struggling with and the questions I have
How the Research Question Relates to Content Strategy:
My research question will help gather data and information on what content particularly interests users within the wellness space. Wellness accounts are more on the broad side, they consider fitness, health (mental and physical), nutritional, lifestyle tips and tricks, etc. Many content creators try to focus solely on one aspect, while others combine these different elements into one whole page, categorized as Wellness. However, collecting data on these accounts and exploring each of the different subcategories will help to discover their content strategy. While all are not the same, it is interesting to see what type of combination of content selections works best for them as a creator. How often are they posting? Is content interchangeable? Is there a schedule they stick to for each category (fitness, health, nutrition, etc). All will be shown through analyzing and collecting data on the research question.
What I learned about Creating a Research Question:
When drafting and creating a research question for our previous project, I learned how crucial it is to ensure your collected data is concise and organized. Without being able to identify and read your data accurately, the hypothesis argument will not be strong. To make the strongest hypothesis possible, you must allow the data to speak for itself, and then form an argument around what the data analysis has shown. When connecting your argument to content strategy, creators must use the data and therefore adapt their content to what the data identifies. For example, if you are promoting content for a coffee shop and users love seeing videos of people creating the coffee, and the data shows that views are increased when this type of content is posted, the creator would hopefully alter the content to include more of these videos. Overall, the data shows so much when creating a hypothesis and a strategic content strategy.
