Look what we made!!

Okay, I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but learning how to make these little desserts was like making a dream come true. I have LOVED these tiny, adorable little sundaes since I first saw them as a teenager at an anime convention. When I learned that any ordinary Joe could make them, my mind was BLOWN. Yet I was absolutely intimidated at the thought of learning how to do it myself. For some reason, it seemed frighteningly complex and expensive.

So when I saw that there was a Deco Desserts panel at Resin Rose, I knew I had to join-I didn't realize we'd actually be making the desserts right then and there! It was so so so SOOOO much fun, I learned a lot, and a major shout out to Jamie from Jamie's BJD Prop Shop for being an excellent teacher. 

I'm sort of obsessed with making these now. I know there isn't a huge demand for them in the doll hobby, but I'm hoping to gather some ideas for how to create them with a unique spin. Either way, I loved learning how to create my own unique little dolly desserts!

So, Resin Rose BJD Expo 2017 is officially in the past.

It was amazing.

The venue change was just what we needed.  The space was great, the staff was responsive, and the snags that did appear were addressed without hesitation.  The vendors were diverse and I would have shopped for hours had I the time to have done so.  The attendees were lovely and fun and it was soothing to hear so much happy conversation throughout the space.  The donations were over-the-top and it was a joy to see them won.  

The best part was having people from my panel last year find me and tell me what they had done with the things they learned.  That was, as one might expect, my favorite part.  I really don’t have the words to explain how it makes me feel that someone learned a thing from me and went on to make something beautiful happen as a result.  From the depths of my heart, thank you to all of you that showed me or told me about your projects from the last year.

This year’s panel )horn making) went kinda sideways, but that is my bad.  I don’t know what went wrong, but the vibe in the room, and that chatter afterward that was overheard, was that it was disappointing.  If I did another panel next year, what would you want it to be?  I want people to learn something they find valuable and come to me the next year to show me what they made.  Selfishly, I want that to happen again.

So, what would you want to hear more about, and how would you want it presented?
