LIGHTS. BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL LIGHTS. that’s the last thing ben remembers, before their ship plowed into the forest floor. in those brief moments before their crash landing, his thoughts drifted to his mother. their argument before his departure, the way she’d looked at him. everyone else saw BEN SOLO, jedi knight, fearless warrior. his mother still saw a troubled teenager, who needed protection. from a former CRIMINAL, no less. what good is being the most POWERFUL jedi in the galaxy, if you can’t even stand up to your mother?
it wouldn’t be such a TERRIBLE way to die, he’d decided. many jedi had seen far, far worse deaths. it would be quick, painless. he’d be one with the force, and he’d find a way to help the revolution, even in the afterlife. or so he THOUGHT.
PAIN. SEARING, SCORCHING, BLINDING PAIN. shooting down his legs, his arms, his back. his skin is SLICK with sweat, his breathing labored. wild eyes pop out from ‘neath bruised lids, his own blood spilling from his mouth. he’s not dead, but he wishes he were. ❝ FUCK! ❞ he lets out, louder than he intends to. his head is spinning with the effort it takes to remain conscious, his hand instinctively reaching for his lightsaber. fingertips brush fabric where metal should be, making his heart sink.
it’s dark, wherever they are. he’s unsure if they landed minutes or hours ago, or if they’d been unconscious for DAYS. unfamiliar sounds surround him, bird chirping, leaves rustling, tall grass blowing in the wind. his dark, matted strands stuck to his sweaty forehead. he’s been thrown some feet from the landing site, a large chunk of their ship pinning him to the ground, causing his extreme discomfort. with minimal effort, he lifts his hand, closes his eyes, and shoves the two-ton piece of metal through the air and into the nearest tree. a task that would have taken every OUNCE of his strength just a few years ago.
RELIEF. SWEET, MERCIFUL RELIEF. slowly, the all consuming pain begins to subside. he lifts his hand, wiping the blood from his mouth on the back of his glove. it takes some EFFORT to get his feet under him, but he manages. despite the dark, the various moons on this strange planet light his way through the forest. he finds what’s LEFT of the ship a few yards north, the ground charred from the explosive impact. but the girl is nowhere to be seen. ❝ nesota? ❞ his voice cracks as he calls into the dark, the ground seeming to shift beneath black boots. he reaches out to steady himself against the ship to no avail. dark eyes slip shut, knees slamming into the ground with a THUD. blood spills from an undiscovered gash in his leg, leaving him unconscious, d e a d to this new world all over again.
