during lent, i spent a lot of time Contemplating Media, and i was getting frustrated thinking about a Popular Indie Project for the way they wrote female characters (it felt like, while there were a LOT of women on the show, the show wasn't really interested in them to the same degree it was interested in the men, and only had them around to be imperiled and whimper) and then a video essayist i like made a long video about an incredibly popular piece of horror media and i was like. wow my bad i forgot what its like when a work truly doesnt care about women. i forgot what actual misogyny looked like. thats on me
