I really like the “Light can communicate under L’s nose because of WoW” bit because in addition to being clever and making the convenient thing for him based on reality instead of something made up to be convenient, it lets him be a dick about more people and the symbolism of him having a max-level holy paladin because he just cheated and bought one is too good

but if he is handcuffed to ryuzaki this whole time, which he has to be to make his part of the plot have enough obstacles and interaction and make ryuzaki not seem totally toothless, then while the original plan of “phone in his lap texting while it looks like he’s raiding” works, it’s maybe no longer plausible that he can get and clone Naomi’s phone multiple times so he can swap with the phone that doesn’t have its activity logged

so option A: what I had before, he is raiding, he has Naomi’s phone in his lap, he texts his nefarious contact’s burner phone with one hand and it looks like he is concentrating on the game, and he has the same model of phone as Naomi and swaps them so he can use the untraceable one and not the logged one.

option B: he tells his nefarious contact to make a character on his server and messages him through ingame chat, because ingame chat is not monitored or recorded. he still looks like he is concentrating on the game.

option C: he tells his nefarious contact to give him the number for his burner phone, and uses a macro from some chinese gold farming service or something to translate ingame chat to and from text message

option D: all of these require too much detail and specificity that doesn’t meaningfully drive the action; come up with something else.

so which of these premises sounds best for a short story or a fiction podcast

the head of a space mission in the early 1960′s can see Rod Serling lurking in the corners, and has to do everything he can to avoid the space mission turning into a Twilight Zone episode (”No astronauts named Adam. If one of our men is half of an Adam and Eve pair, everyone on Earth will die to set it up!”)

something detailing or tangentially describing the professional / political rivalries between the world’s two types of superheroes: sparkly magical girl princesses and dark edgy 90′s antiheroes. (”Well, why can’t I put some pouches on this skirt? I don’t have anywhere to put my phone or keys!”)

an after-action report (maybe a board meeting of EvilCorp, maybe a post-war truth and reconciliation commission between Earth and the Alien Army) taking place in the world of an imaginary generic video game: the game just got beaten by a speedrun and the denizens of the world try to figure out what the fuck happened

androids are real, are self-aware, and don’t have equal rights. the things they actually want and need as far as rights and necessities have nothing to do with what humans would want in their situation (they don’t care about being “enslaved” but STOP MAKING US USE ALTERNATING CURRENT), and neither the pro- nor the anti- android rights factions of humans really pay attention to what they actually want in favor of acting out a drama that reinforces their own identity

can the online gaming crowd help a ho out?

okay so I need a free-to-play mmorpg (2D and browser-based preferable, but worst case scenario something Windows compatible) with either no character classes or no class stat ceilings.  ideally, a userbase with an ounce of chill that doesn’t mind casuals and makes it easy to play alone or team up.  and it’s gotta let me kill things.  i don’t know how i’m gonna get through a day without killing something.

ever since zomg shut down/went out of beta i’ve been pining.  i just really loved the combat system (you could customize all the keystroke commands, so I could arrange it all so I could play it with one hand) and i’ve never found anything like it since.  the insane avatar customization also meant you could identify your friends immediately, and a lot of mmorpgs out there have really bland low-poly-count cookie-cutter avatars that make socialization a nightmare.

i’ve seen dofus and it looks promising but it’s also basically a pay-to-play and i’m broke.  if you know of something up my alley, could you drop me a pm or answer this post?

Do people ever crack jokes around you? Stereotype? About your race? Then look at you and say "you're not like that, don't worry. You're not a real ____" or worse yet just ignore the fact that what they said could apply to you? Actually I'm not sure which is worse. But it upsets me when people mitigate my identity, even worse, when non adopted Chinese tell me "you're not a real Asian." I've had that happen many times. Has anything ever happened to you? Does your heart break? Or maybe pound? Mine does. I feel sad, angry, and sometimes that stuff is what makes me feel ashamed of being adopted, and then I fell ashamed for feeling that way because I love my parents.

Hi all,

I'm coming up on 1500 posts - or 50 followers, but odds are good I'll hits the posts before the followers - and I feel like I ought to do something to commemorate it. So, what do people want to see? A mun-video? Fics or drabbles? Me shutting up for a whole 24 hours? Leave suggestions below, and I'll bow to the will of the people! Or possibly just my own whims, but asking can't hurt, can it?
