one of my earliest memories is of crying while i was shut in a closet with duct tape around my wrists and over my mouth

i was about 3-ish at the time

i was in there for hours (i don’t know how long exactly, but i remember it was so long i thought my parents were just gonna leave me there until i died)

but my parents were doing their best, right?

and “no parent doesn’t love their child,” right?

and kids who are physically abused are always identified and believed and helped, right?

you would think that given the fact that when i was a kid, i would run and hide every time an adult said something that even implied i might be in trouble, my teachers and other adults at school would’ve realized that hey maybe something was Not Right

but no apparently that just meant i was a “flight risk” which meant that if i so much as looked toward the door or tensed up like i was about to run, any adult could grab me and put me in a baskethold because that will make a situation less scary (/sarcasm)
