A whole mess.
By which I mean a trusted outlet reporting a fake apology from a fake representative. (Linked article is a correction.)
This right after the Daily Mail was posting the "leaked" Travis Kelce doc. Journalism is in a scary state, y'all.

I suppose we all have a few memories that cause us to cringe, memories of things we did or things we said that leave shame flooding our minds and little trickles of sweat running down our foreheads. Embarrassing things. Awkward things. Shameful things. Sinful things. Most of us do our…
Would you mind explaining why the Bad Spirk AU was transmisogynistic? I found it funny (pretty sure I have rebloged it), so I would like to understand and avoid spreading that kind of things in the future :)
There’s a number of things that make it iffy. But the most obvious and easy to explain is as follows:
Basically, in the scenario outlined in the ask, Spock is wearing a wig so he can pretend to be a woman in order to romance Kirk. And that scenario feeds directly into the idea that “gay men” will “disguise themselves” as women in order to “trick” straight men into sleeping with them. Which is one of the oldest transphobic stereotypes in the book. It’s the reason we have the “trans panic defense”. And it’s the reason behind a lot of the violence against trans women.
I didn’t realize this until it was pointed out to me. I wasn’t even really thinking about gender when I shopped those awful wigs on. To me, what made this prompt funny (besides tacky shiny wigs) was like… an object permanence thing. Like how it’s funny that a baby can’t remember that you’re still there when you hide behind your hands during ‘peek-a-boo’. Or like that gag you see sometimes in old detective movies where a character sticks on a fake mustache and suddenly no one can recognize them. The idea that Kirk could look at someone who was clearly, obviously, Spock but like, just wearing something funny on his head, and think nope that’s a totally different person I have never seen before in my life had me in stitches.
But, I now realize there are much better ways that idea could be approached. And regardless of how I felt, (and my feelings are really not important here), in the particular context this idea was presented in, it has the potential to have a very deeply transmisogynistic read. And I think it’s important to listen when these concerns are raised.
The study, published on October 23, had alleged that hospitalizations for COVID-19 decreased in 1,083 US counties after lawmakers passed mask mandates. "The authors have withdrawn this manuscript because there are increased rates of SARS- CoV-2 cases in the areas that we originally analyzed in this study,” the updated abstract reads.
One retracted study is hardly enough to prove Tegnell and other European health officials are right. But it is likely to fuel debate surrounding the ethics of forcing individuals to wear masks, which some argue is a violation of the Principle of Effectiveness, which states public health agencies are only allowed to recommend interventions they know are effective.
It’s also worth pointing out that masks were not initially controversial. Many Americans began wearing masks in public at the onset of the pandemic. Masks did not become polarizing until governments began mandating their use, which has at times resulted in violent confrontations.

this is not the first time this has happened 🤣😊
Her mind was theoretic, and yearned by its nature after some lofty conception of the world which might frankly include the parish of Tipton and her own rule of conduct there; she was enamoured of intensity and greatness, and rash in embracing whatever seemed to her to have those aspects; likely to seek martyrdom, to make retractations, and then to incur martyrdom after all in a quarter where she had not sought it. Certainly such elements in the character of a marriageable girl tended to interfere with her lot, and hinder it from being decided according to custom, by good looks, vanity, and merely canine affection.
