Part 3 of 3:
Here is the second basic foundation behaviour your dog needs before you can do a cued switch with a hold item.
Here's Bosco showing that he can switch between two identical tugs when cued. Teaching this behaviour is also part of creating a clean out (ie. an out without conflict). There are additional pieces to how Shade teaches the switch behaviour but what's shown in the video is the base behaviour. If you want the other pieces then let me know; Martin taught the full behaviour chain. Now you know what I mean when I say a cued switch behaviour. XD
This mornings session SUCKED she was just not grasping the concept and I could not think of any other way to transfer “grab it behind your canines and Clamp Down”. She would do it totally fine if I held it, even super low to the floor, but the second my hands were off the lead she would revert to old habits and be completely at a loss on what to change with me at a complete loss on how to communicate it any differently
But something in her head must have clicked in the break between this mornings session and this evening because this evening she made maybe three errors I had to reset before everything just *clicked* and she was rocking every rep 😭
The cutes retrieve nose ❤️!
