It just clicked when Caroline and Andreas met their architect-designed 50s townhouse. Everything was right. The location, the spirit of the times and the well-thought-out planning. The house has been renovated from the ground up, but the 50s feeling remains.

Typical of the 50's house are juicy colors such as burgundy and petroleum green. So, why is this place all white????  The poster on the wall, from 1969, was a gift from Andreas' uncle. Safari chair, flea market.

Teak was popular in the 50s, and they have second hand kitchen chairs. The green cabinets are good, but very modern. Another 50s touch is the ball clock.

The wallpaper is cute, but it’s not really retro.

The chairs and cabinet are supposedly from the 50s, and I could be wrong, but I really think that this style is later, like the 60s & 70s. But, it’s still a good MCM look.

Here, they have a very bright, MCM look. The fabulous floor lamp is a flea market find.

The blue armchairs are heirlooms. Caroline sewed the pillows. I can see that the railings are retro, but this house bothers me, b/c it just doesn’t look 50s.

Okay, I got it- it’s retro-inspired, in my opinion. And, that’s okay, but call it what it is. They’ve got a nice little polka dot lamp MCM shelf with an MCM chair. 

Caroline made the shadow box cabinet herself.

The bedroom furniture is all second hand and Caroline sewed the bedspread.
