After the affair and watching your family fall apart you became very closed off and depressed. Things were very hard for you during that time and now you have trust issues. Given its place as a central card in this spread, it might suggest that things have cooled down romantically and it’s time to do the heavy and tedious emotional groundwork to keep things going or you will continue to grind to a halt.

This spread seriously made me question how well shuffled my cards are because that is overwhelmingly odd to have all same suit and all same position. Nonetheless, it truly strengthens the wands’ positioning as a suit as the energy towards doing things or feeling things. It suggests that change needs to happen, possibly. Perhaps try something new? Or perhaps try somethign true and tested.

This card is usually a call for healers. If you’ve been feeling drawn toward the healing arts, now is the time for you to start taking action toward that path. Thanks for sending in an ask! Here’s what I have for you:

“Poison and wine,” a lover tells her, fingers trailing along her dark skin. “That’s what you are, poison and wine.”

She thinks that’s total bullshit. 

Poison you must drink, wine you must drink, and she is not something that can be consumed. Her lover can’t pour her into a parched mouth, seeking the euphoria of wine or the death of poison. She does not exist in a dichotomy with the sole purpose to evoke a reaction in others.

She wraps herself in a cloak the color of the night sky and leaves, walks out onto grass and wet earth. The air is cold and crisp. The moon above her is a statement, nearly full and growing still.

She herself is growing.

There’s a river that cuts through the grass and a still pool gathers and sits in front of her. She can sense the life it harbors, the fish and tadpoles, and she sinks onto the shore of this little grotto. Her bare feet sink into the mud and her cloak is soaked through in an instant.

The water is still and silent. It reflects the clear night sky above her, all the stars and galaxies and the waxing moon. This is a perfect place to rest and to enjoy the beauty of this In Between space.

“Poison and wine,” she says to herself. Her voice blends into the babbling of the river, disappears in the air. She thinks it might be time for a new lover. One that doesn’t want to consume her, who doesn’t want to hoard her.

She reaches to the still water and sinks one finger into the depths. The ripples flow away from her, distorting the reflecting stars. She watches them for a long while, watches them grow and wave until the hit the flowing water of the river.

The ripples, when they come back, carry her story.

There’s a girl with shoulders wide enough to carry the world. She walks and walks, gathering her burdens, but never quite finds the right one. There are stories in her harvest that are sharp and lethal, others are soft and as light as clouds. They both seem intangible to her and, the further she walks, the more sure she becomes that these are not her stories, not her burdens.

When she is almost a woman, she takes one of these Not Her burdens and she hands it to a woman. This woman reaches out with a trembling hand and touches the story. The words flow from one hand to the next, up an arm and into the woman’s heart where they sit, glowing gold.

Ah, the almost woman thinks, watching the other’s heart glow. This is my burden.

Her wide shoulders are littered with stories, sharp and soft, heavy and weightless, and they are not hers. She is a messenger, in a way, and also an observer.

She is a woman then and she knows she will never stop walking. She will wander on and on, collecting, in order to deliver that one story, that one burden to the one who needs it most.

Sometimes the recipients don’t accept her offering. Sometimes they don’t believe it is for them. Sometimes they plug their ears and wail that is not their story, that it is not noble enough, it is not big enough, it is not enough. She leaves their story on the ground in their sight. She can’t make them accept, she can’t make them see, but she can leave it where they can find it should they choose to look.

The ripples lap at her finger and she swirls her finger through them. She is still walking, she knows. She will be for a long time.

Here’s what I get from that: You’re a giver. You want to help people, you want to hold a mirror up to some of the messed up shit in the world. You also want to convey beauty and all those wonderful things that we can find here. 

I think if you keep on the path you’re on, you’re going to meet many wonderful people but I also think there isn’t any one goal you’re trying to meet. I can say that the path you’re on will make you rich in experience which, to me, is an incredible success.

This was a lot of fun to write! You’re definitely one of the more complicated readings I’ve given.
