This is probably a really silly question ... but I have one of your bags and it's getting a bit dirty from daily use (such as having to put it on the floor every class), so I was wondering if it was okay to wash it or something in the washing machine? (I love my bag, by the way, and I get compliments on it daily!)
Not a silly question, and I’m glad you asked because you do not want to just put it through in the washer. The bag itself with stay together, but it might be so misshapen you’d want to cry.
To clean, just do gentle spot cleaning and air dry. The two big keys is to avoid heat and avoid saturating the fabric. If it gets wet and heavy it will pull on the fibers and stretch things out oddly. (especially if any of it is canvas- that can gets misshapen very easily) Heat may separate the the interfacing from the cotton fabric and make lumps and bumps.
