Ahead of the official release of her twelfth studio album, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑨 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍, Taylor Swift shared pictures from a photo shoot in which she wears a showgirl costume. Photos of her in this costume would go on to be used for the covers for the Limited Edition Deluxe CD entitled 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍, and the 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒚, 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 vinyl collection, as well as the Target official store exclusive vinyl variant, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 Edition. Costume designer @BobMackie mentioned on his Instagram that the costume is not just any old replica but an original showgirl costume he designed for the “Jewel Finale” of the Las Vegas show 𝑱𝒖𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒆! which ran from 1981 to 2016. He described the costume as follows: “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒂, 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒉 𝒇𝒂𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒄 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒏𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓-𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓.” At least three, but possibly more, costumes in this style exist, as seen in a 2016 photo shoot with dancer Katherine Schwing (as pictured) for the 𝑳𝒂𝒔 𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘-𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍.
