I've got a new method for revising! I scribble notes in a different colour before turning over each flash card; it makes it more active, and it happens to look pretty too! Hope your exams/lessons are going okay. ❤🌥

When a studyblr stops studying.
TW- Suicide
I started this blog (originally named Science-Studying) back in March 2015. This was during the worst time of my life. I was so suicidal I wasn’t even allowed into school. I was determined that if I didn’t get the grades I wanted at GCSE, I would kill myself. Simple as that. Though Pinterest, I found the Studyblr community and thought it was really hard, I managed to study. I started my medication 3 days before my first exam. It was awful being spaced out and constantly sick during those hours of exams. I managed to pass everything. I didn’t 100% get the grades I wanted but I was so happy.
College/Sixth Form came around and I honestly thought it was the “getting over” the depression and the new timetable that made me exhausted. I was so ill all the time and would fall asleep on the bus, in the cafeteria and sometimes I even think in classrooms. I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t concentrate on my work. I mean, I had revised even when I had no will to live?
Results day came round and I opened my computer to find I had failed. 2Es and 2Us. I wasn’t as upset as you’d think I’d be. I’d expected it. When my mum asked me “Did you try your best” I had to reply “No, because I couldn’t”
All was not lost. I started a new BTEC course that was only 3 days a week! I found the work really easy to get through (No offence, BTEC students!) yet, I couldn’t get out of bed. My college was really good though, they let me come in afternoons only but It wasn’t enough. Though in the UK you HAVE to stay in education until you’re 18. I was allowed to drop out for health reasons.
I was diagnosed with CFS/ME in December and if I’m honest I am really struggling, once again. Not mentally, but physically. I will return to college in September to do an access course that will get me (hopefully) into uni.
I am posting this because A) it’s exam season and B) lots of people are reblogging my old GCSE posts and I can’t help but smile. I am not a studyblr but when I was, I was really happy. Yes, I am really struggling with my heath at the moment but coming on here today made me smile. Yes, I used to hide from tumblr. I even blocked it from my computer because it made me feel so ashamed I wan’t in school anymore. I can’t be in school at this moment in time, my body and mind could not handle it. It is okay to break from education for health reasons whether those reasons be mental or physical.
24.04.17 25/100 days of productivity Made a summary sheet of the 3 key areas of one of my biology units 🌿📄also as you can see I’m still finishing last friday’s to-do list as I was in hospital all day and didn't get anything done :(
27.04.17 27/100 days of productivity More english literature revision - making flashcards with quotes + analysis on each key scene in Great Expectations 🐝but look at this cute bee that’s much more important
03.04.17 22/100 days of productivity Revising some key extracts in Dickens’ Great Expectations for my exam tomorrow 📝💐My favourite method is flashcards with quotes on one side and analysis on the back for portable self-testing!
Also, I got an A* in my biology coursework, I’m so pleased - I worked rlly hard on it !! :^)
Best Study Methods to Stop Procrastinating and Improve Focus
Struggling to start revision or stay focused while studying? Watch this helpful guide on study methods to cure procrastination and learn practical ways to build better habits.
This video features Eloise Skinner, an author and psychotherapist, sharing simple but effective study techniques to help students overcome procrastination. Instead of relying on motivation alone, the advice focuses on creating a clearer, calmer study environment and making revision feel more manageable.
The video explains why removing distractions, such as keeping your phone in another room, can improve concentration. It also highlights the importance of knowing exactly what task you need to complete before you begin. By breaking work into clear steps, students can reduce overwhelm and make it easier to get started.
Another useful tip is choosing whether to begin with the easiest or most difficult task, depending on your energy and confidence. Eloise also encourages students to think of revision as training, helping them build consistency over time rather than expecting instant results.
Key takeaways: - Remove distractions before starting study sessions. - Define your revision task clearly. - Choose your task order based on your mindset. - Treat revision like training to build long-term focus. - Use structure to reduce procrastination and stress.

school
so i'm doing my alevels in maths, chemistry and english. tbh my grades are not brill atm but the amount of content we're being taught rn is insane and it all goes into so much depth that i'm hoping within the next month or two, with the revision i'm doing at the minute things will start to click and hopefully my grades will start to rise.
i'm trying a few different revision/study methods but my fave is teaching someone else what i'm struggling with. i find that if i'm finding a subject or concept difficult, that just sitting down with my mum or dad and reading what notes i've made in my book and trying to teach them it just makes me realise that mistakes i was making and it just helps everything sort of fit together.
sticking on topic i think i'll do my next post on my currents reads and fave books as i've just bought some new ones that i'd like some reviews on.
