Yeah,,,, I was working at two schools at the time, one was a public school in the "nice" area of town, HOAs and gated communities everywhere type shit, and one was in the shitty part of town where nobody got scholarships and everybody was either a latchkey or a gang member or both.

Never had a problem at the "shitty" school. One of the adults at the "nice" school, however, got stabbed by a student for asking them to drive more carefully after they nearly hit two middle schoolers in the crosswalk. This was less than ten minutes into the day. This was how the day started. We all still had to be there after that.

Top five favorite fanfics?

That’s!!! one of the hardest ones!!!

I’ve read a lot of fic over the years and I love so much of it and trying to pin down specifics ones I really like is hard so I ended up going with fics that’ve stuck with me for years that I’ve gone back to reread a bunch two of which are technically series but ssshhhh

In no particular order, bc pinning down just five was hard enough:

Dreaming of Sunshine - DoS is just!!! so good!!! such excellent worldbuilding, has such an expansive fandom in its own right, and it was my introduction to the SI OC genre as a whole!

Fixations - I followed this one update-by-update from the day it started posting back when I was in High School. I have vivid memories of rushing to grab a computer in the library at lunchtime so I could devour the new chapter before I had to go to my next class

The Keyleeverse - I’ve been following this one since After Armageddon was at chapter... three, I think it was, and I followed it updating on FFN. It was pretty far outside of my usual wheelhouse at the time but the prose grabbed my attention and never let go, for which I am glad, bc it’s an amazing story and the worldbuilding is incredible

Reprise - can I say “best Star Wars time travel fixit”? bc best Star Wars time travel fixit. I’ve been following Reprise since chapter one, I’ve been here since before Reprise and Reprise II were separate fics, this fic is part of my life and I love it so much!!! Wonderful characterisation, A+ worldbuilding, logical consequences to time travel!!! It’s also just so much fun

Cataclasm - another Star Wars one which I’ve been following since it started posting! Excellent characterisation, engaging narrative, the choice of POV characters does a fantastic job of maintaining the mystery, I really want to know what’s up with Obi-Wan, was it a vision or time travel or-

what's your process for painting? every artist has a slight different method and I like learning about it :3 (I don't have much skill in drawing; I like to think my specialty lies in the written arts rather than visual arts lol)

Hey hey hey! Thank you for asking!! I’m honestly trying to rebuild my painting muscles bc I’m very out of practice 🥀 and to explain what I mean, here’s the timelapse for one of the Lee week studies from The Devil Rides Out -

This one was basically a struggle from start to finish haha, underdrawing was too big and I was all over the place, but we got there eventually. I tend to have a hard time eliminating/letting go of the line art, so I’ve been just going right over it from the jump so I don’t get stuck.

I started with this nice middle tone purple bc that movie is very… purple to me? Actually, here’s the reference image -

Purple, right? As you can see, the skin color I pick in the beginning is waaaaay too bright and then too warm, so I mess around a bit and try to block in some of the shadows, but that color I picked is messing up all the other color choices I’m making, to I get in and take it down a bit with a color thats really close to the background.

I like to use big textured brushes and lay down big areas of a color with a light touch so that the color underneath still comes through. I definitely get in there and eyedrop colors here and there, but I tend to work more like I’m drawing with pastels or chalk than with paint, thats just how I worked for years of life drawing! It helps me keep things from getting too muddy (it still happens though).

I can get really caught up noodling in a zoomed in area and forget I’m painting a planes of a face and then I’m cooked until I put it down and give my eyes and brain a rest haha I did that a few times especially his nose and between his mouth and chin. I’d say I didn’t get out of the ugly/trust the process phase until around the 2 minute mark. At that point, while I was still going in and sort of reconfiguring areas, I was more focused on controlling values and hues. I’m going into the areas between lights and shadows and either softening the transition or cutting in a harder edge. I’m also going over while areas once in a while with a big swoop of the brush to warm it up or tone it down if I feel like I’ve put in too much contrast.

some things I’m constantly doing/working on:

-hard and soft edges

-paying attention to warm and cool areas

-staying zoomed out and looking at the whole image

Most importantly, I’m resisting the urge to overlay the image I’m studying onto my canvas. I don’t need to torture myself with how close or how far off I got. I’m happy with the likeness, the colors, and the mood!

Hey hey hey!

I really don’t have a ton of stuff I hc about Lene, but I do think that she’s really into like, candles, essential oils, incense etc. and while many of her peers just assume that’s all part of her sort of ✨witchy aunt✨ vibe, it’s really because she has a perpetual fascination with olfactory memory.

She’s gotten so good that, if she wants to, she can trigger someone’s memory and make them cry just by throwing some oils together and diffusing them nearby after asking a few seemingly innocuous questions. She rarely uses this power for evil though lol, and it really helps to comfort and center Sifo-Dyas when he’s coming out of/recovering from a debilitating vision.
