I love the scene at the end of Chapter 2 between Nia and Rex. Nia decides to leave the group and thanking them to go back on her lonesome as she was before she joined Torna. Rex, in turn, decides to tell her about his dream of reaching Elysium in the hope of a better world.

Rex's youthful optimism is refreshing and awe-inspiring for Nia, given how long she's spent in isolation without any love or acceptance from anyone. She found a home of sorts in Torna. However, it was a temporary home for her also, as they only wallowed in each other's pain.

Rex and Nia's dynamic is cute and interesting for me as he gives her the long forgotten hope and motivation to strive for a world where she can be accepted for who she is and not the mask she puts on as a way to fit in. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is peak.

I love these two a lot. I'm so glad they got together in the end.

I like how Nia's identity as a flesh eater is first foreshadowed in the scene where Rex first bonds with her. She hesitates for a second, then decides it's easier to pretend to be 'human' like Rex. I still love how much Nia's desire to be normal is shown across Xenoblade 2.
