prompt 25 for reyson?? i'm feeling sof for him at the moment and there's barely any imagines for him :(((
I’m always feeling soft for him;; He deserves a whole lot of love;; ♡♡♡
Reyson’s standing there, a handful of fruit, flowers and nuts in his hand with the cutest blush on his face and you’re not sure what to think.
“Will you… accept my gift?” He asks, voice even softer than usual.
You stare at him for a moment, then another before you begin to laugh. “You’re not very good at this ‘romance’ thing, are you?”
There’s a confused look on his face and his wings droop a little, matching his mood. Before he can ask exactly what you mean, you reach out and accept his gift.
“That’s not how humans do things, but I’ll gladly accept, if it’s from you.” His tiny frown disappears as a barely notable flush covers his cheeks. Wings fluttering slightly, he attempts to stutter out some sort of something, but embarrassment has already gotten a hold of his tongue.
what about reader initiating courting with reyson accidentally (offering him some food, asking him to dance which could be interpreted as a mating invitation, etc.) and it ends up triggering reyson’s heat which he hasn’t had in a while (by a human too!) so just lots n lots of sexual tension as reyson desperately tries to explain the situation and not die from the hot humiliation (tibarn giving him some oil and winking doesn’t help either) as by heron culture they are essentially married-
Teenage me obsessed with the PoR official art would be so proud that I'm finally writing Reyson fucking
Me: so I finally get to write 'in heat' smut about the heron guy from Path of Radiance
Fiance: cool lets watch some heron mating videos for research
Takeaways: Herons poof up and display decorative feathers, stretch out their necks, groom each other, play-fight a bit, build a nest and fuck with the male holding the females neck in its beak to steady itself. Cool stuff.
It's interesting thinking of Reyson in this kind of scenario though- on the one hand, Heron Laguz are so demure and reserved generally, but on the other hand, Reyson is canonically pretty feisty for a Heron. Plus, you add the "in heat" element and he's naturally going to be a bit more forward. I dunno, y'all tell me if I got it right lol.
Reyson (FE: PoR/RD) x AFAB Reader
NSFW 18+ v
Heron Laguz biorhythms are a delicate thing, and sexual arousal is a powerful disruptive force. Reyson, true to his kind, is not often subject to such base instincts. Perhaps this is why even he had not expected that you could so easily shake him.
It had started innocuously enough. Reyson's people are not warriors, and so when he happened upon you stretching your body after a routine training session, the sight interpreted itself quite differently to his mind. Every curve looked like an offering, every slow, sensual movement like an invitation. But he halted himself, calming his pounding heart and reminding himself- you are a Beorc. Your ways are not the ways of his people, and this tempting display had a utilitarian purpose far from the flirtation it would be taken as among his own kind. Yet his plight only worsened.
Time passes, and your presence is both a comfort and a trial to the fragile sensibilities of the Heron Prince. The first time you casually brush a hand to his arm to get his attention over a nighttime meal, he nearly freezes up. Worse even, one evening when you reach to him to pluck a stray leaf from the tresses of his hair. He burns bright red, and excuses himself to his tent early that night. Such a brazen overture! That you would so willingly groom him- and in full view of your comrades! What's more, he's certain Tibarn saw, and the last thing Reyson needs is the Hawk King's unsolicited perspective on mating etiquette.
He knows his body is responding to this onslaught of temptation. It's only natural- he has not experienced his Heat for so long, perhaps he shouldn't be surprised that a Beorc is capable of triggering it. Especially when he's allowed himself to become... fond of you. But even Reyson knows that your kind don't experience Heat. He can't possibly approach you about this- no matter how he burns and aches for you. In the solitude of his tent after yet another day's march, he grits his teeth and pleads with his overactive mind to grant him sleep. Restless energy boils in his gut as images of you mewing and sighing beneath him play across his imagination despite his efforts to stifle them. If only you hadn't approached him so brazenly earlier that night... he remembers your words, and he bites back a groan. His cock throbs uncomfortably hard, but he refuses to indulge in base impulse. He simply has to endure this.
~
You hesitate at the entrance to Reyson's tent, unsure of how to proceed. There's plenty you still don't fully understand about him and the culture he comes from, but you've gotten to know him well enough to know that he's been strange lately. You'd thought that the two of you had actually gotten... well, at least fairly close- your own persistent and distracting little crush notwithstanding. This sudden distance between you fills your heart with painful anxiety.
Still, if it were only a few awkward conversations with abrupt endings, you wouldn't be seeking him out in the middle of the night. Tibarn had told you that Reyson was unwell, and that you should check on him, which had flooded your mind with concerns. Why you, when there are healers, and those who understand Heron biology better than you do? Why had the Hawk King's demeanor seemed so unconcerned? If anything, his subtle smirk had given the impression of someone enjoying a private joke.
Finally, you take a single deep breath, and begin to part the flap into Reyson's tent.
"Reyson? Are you around? Sorry to bother you so late..."
He breathes out your name and sits upright on his bedroll. You swallow hard and struggle to discipline your line of sight. He wears only close-fitted breeches and an embroidered tunic of a thin and delicate fabric, and so near to him in the privacy of his tent, you're offered a striking view of him. His skin seems flushed to a more ruddy, pinkish tone than usual, especially evident at his lips and the tips of his pointed ears. Those olive green eyes seem more vibrant than you've ever seen them, his gaze arresting, entrancing. You almost don't even notice that, though they're carefully drawn in behind him, his wings seem fuller than usual, as though the feathers have grown thicker and longer somehow.
"What- what are you doing here?" Reyson's tone is harsher than he tends to be with you, and you're reminded of how he used to address all Beorc not long ago. Your face heats up, but you manage,
"I was, uh, just checking on you-"
His brow lowers. Damn the Heron's senses- he can tell you're not being entirely truthful.
"Well, to be honest, Tibarn said-"
"Tibarn," he groans, and hand rubbing irritably at his forehead. Your lips tighten for a moment, then you sigh and say,
"Well, if you're not unwell, can I at least ask why you've been so strange towards me lately?"
You come to sit near him by his bedroll. He instinctively shifts himself an inch or two away from you. Those bright green eyes flicker over you once, then he breathes in deeply.
"Do you recall what you said to me earlier this evening? After... After Leanne and I sang for everyone at the fire."
You frown deeply, and take a moment to recall.
"You mean... about teaching me a song so we could sing together some time? It just seemed like a nice idea- is that a problem?"
Reyson says your name once more, this time low and agitated, and when he meets your eyes, it seems to take all of his focus. His jaw clenches tight, then, he says deliberately,
"Did you truly mean that?"
"Of course I did," you say without a thought. Something about this conversation seems strange, but before you can question him, Reyson leans toward you and presses his lips to yours, kissing you deeply. You inhale sharply, but arousal leaps to life at your core, and you kiss him back with all of the passion he offers. Long fingers weave into your hair, pulling you to him while his tongue parts your lips and you whimper against him. He smells like fresh grass and the clean air of the forest, and for all of his ethereal beauty, the way he's kissing you now is urgent and forceful. You had never once imagined that Reyson could be like this- passionate and direct, spurred on by unrestrained need. You're so swept up in his pace that you almost forget how utterly baffled you are.
By the time you can think enough to speak, his arm is wrapped around your waist, pulling you close as he leans over you and draws you into deep, erotic kisses one after another. You hadn't even realized your hands had come to cling to the front of his tunic. Still, you force yourself to part from his lips long enough to say,
"Ruh- Reyson, I- what is... all of this?"
His brow creases, his lips hovering not even an inch from yours.
"My Heat," his voice is low but heady, "You have agreed to be my mate, have you not?"
His Heat?! The full weight of the situation suddenly dawns on you. You only know a little about the process, but to your knowledge, Reyson must be in a state of lust-induced agony- one that won't be soothed until it's indulged. No wonder he's been strange lately. At the realization, you immediately feel the wet warmth of your arousal growing between your thighs. Then, his lips meet the tender flesh of your neck, kissing and sucking at sensitive skin. You gasp and arc against him, noting the way his wings flutter in reply.
"Among my tribe," he murmurs, warm breath teasing through your hair, "To request a song with another outside of one's family... it is a clear and direct mating proposition."
Oh Goddess above, you had accidentally asked Reyson to fuck. What's more, your advance had triggered his Heat, and if you agree to as much, he'll take you until his instincts are satisfied. A shiver rushes up your spine, and you gasp his name.
"I... I want it," you whimper into the quiet of his tent, "Let me... take care of you."
He groans- a low, lustful sound you'd never imagined coming from the Heron Prince. Then, the sting of his teeth at your throat sends a jolt through you. Your fingers rake through his hair, your breath coming in shallow, panting whimpers. You're familiar with this too- that Laguz mark their partners before coupling. The very idea that you would wear Prince Reyson's marks for your allies to see for days to come has you squirming in his arms, the ache between your thighs nearly unbearable.
By the time he coaxes you down beneath him on his bedroll, you feel as though you're at the mercy of an angel. Golden hair spills around you as you undress one another between fevered kisses, his wings spread wide and fluttering excitedly. You had never dreamed that Reyson could be so forward- but you suppose that's the effect of his Heat. He needs this.
You gasp as his lips travel down your chest, deep, open-mouthed kisses setting your nerves ablaze. When at last you feel the brush of two slender fingers across the swell of your soaked lower lips, your entire frame tenses, your breath catching audibly.
"Are all Beorc so sensitive?" Reyson says with note of awe in his voice.
"Yes? Maybe? Ohh-!"
His touch presses to you, gliding slick over your hardened clit and sending a trembling rush through you. Already, you're panting and sighing as he teases the stiff little nub, your juices coating the tips of his dexterous fingers. Your thighs tremble- if he doesn't stop, you'll-
Reyson's vibrant eyes seize your gaze and hold.
"You feel ready to take me, and... I am not certain how much longer I can restrain myself," his tone is low and heated. His fingers draw away from you, easing you away from the edge of climax, though something tells you that you won't have to wait long to feel that release.
"I'm ready," you murmur, and you hope you at least sound confident. In truth, you haven't had a clear thought since you entered this tent. Desire superseded reason long ago.
Reyson's hand brushes your cheek, and for a moment, you're surprised at how gentle he is even now.
"Much as I would dearly love to witness your pleasured expressions... the traditional way requires you to turn over."
Your face burns a deep red, and you nod. His hands at your hips encourage you as you turn onto your stomach beneath him, arching your back to angle yourself properly and he positions himself behind you. To your surprise, the next thing you feel is his hand between your shoulder blades. His touch is gentle, contemplative, even. His hand slowly runs down your back, but Reyson doesn't say a word. At first, you think to question him- but some part of you knows why he finds the sight so unusual.
These thoughts evaporate the moment his hands reach your backside and he parts your lower lips before him. Without a word, he presses the hot tip of his manhood to your entrance. You're soaking wet, your slick seeming to welcome him as he steadily pushes into you. Reyson gives a breathy groan of relief as you receive each inch of his cock, squeezing around him perfectly as he drives into you. By the time his pelvis rests against you and he's buried in your drooling hole to the base, you're each panting aloud, sighing happily at the delicious friction of your bodies. You hear his wings ruffle behind you, then feel him lean over you, his chest warm at your back.
"You feel perfect," he says simply. His hips begin to move with a slow, insistent sway, massaging his member into your aching inner walls. The curve of his shaft presses him into you wonderfully, grinding him against a thousand different pleasurable spots as he bucks into you.
"Is... is this really okay? I- I'm... a Beorc..." you're not certain what madness prompts you to ask at this moment, but Reyson nuzzles against the crook of your neck and speaks softly against your skin,
"Herons... are not like the other tribes. Our Heat is not a cycle at set intervals. It is prompted by the courting of a desired partner," you feel him throb, his manhood swelling thicker inside of you as he speaks, "I am not mindlessly attending to my own needs, Y/N. Beorc or not... I want you. Only you."
You gasp out his name and feel your lower muscles clench around him, your climax mounting rapidly. Reyson's pace increases, a hand at your hip keeping you in place as he thrusts into you to the base a bit faster, a bit harder. In the corners of your eyes, you see the dazzling white of his wings fluttering at your sides, surrounding you in a way that feels almost protective. Silky blonde hair cascades down his shoulders and pools on the pillow beside you. Then, sharp pain and pleasure spark at the base of your neck as he presses his lips and teeth to you. You're not certain if this is tradition or raw lust, but evidently, a single mark is not enough to satisfy your mate.
Fists clinging to the blanket beneath you, your thighs begin to tremble, and you wonder if the Herons' unique sense of empathy means that Reyson can feel the full extent of your rapidly building arousal. Perhaps that's why your bodies feel so perfectly in rhythm with one another. His breath comes heavier against your neck, his grip tightening at your hip. Then, his free hand reaches one of yours, lacing his fingers with yours as his pace falters and his thrusts become deep and harsh.
Words have dissolved into gasping moans and grunts. Your love-making is somehow both tender and utterly animalistic, and your eyes threaten to roll back as you near your climax. Then, the hand at your side moves to grab greedily at your ass, spreading you open as Reyson plunges his cock deep inside of you, his thrusts barely pulling out of you like he can't stand to be without your warmth around him for even a moment.
At last, with a final desperate whimper, your body trembles, a tingling rush moving through you as the tension in your core releases and you cum around your lover's cock. It's an overwhelming, dizzying sensation, yet before you've ridden out the length of your own climax, Reyson lets out a groan against your ear that somehow feels more potent than any galdr. His cock twitches, then throbs powerfully as his own release begins to pour into you. He says something in his native tongue- something beautiful and entirely incomprehensible to you- but the passion in his voice is near musical. As the final throes of his orgasm subside, he exhales, his body relaxing around you as you both catch your breath.
Reyson carefully pulls himself from your soaking wet warmth, and runs an admiring hand up your back. His voice still recovering from the strain, he softly says,
"If it would please you, I am willing to try it in the style of the Beorc next- you may lay on your back and face me, if you like."
You half-turn towards him and look up at him with eyebrows raised.
"You- you can go again already?"
Reyson frowns, seeming not to comprehend your surprise. Drawing down to you once more, he caresses your cheek and murmurs,
"Have Beorc lovers truly left you so neglected?"
Yet even as he speaks, he's already urging you fully onto your back so he can press slow, luxurious kisses down your chest. Reyson guides your thighs around his hips, then allows his hands to wander freely while his lips worship your breasts. Heat rises rapidly to your face once more, and between sighs of pleasure, you murmur,
"I think it's more that a Laguz in Heat is a completely different level..."
the recent tibarn heat one got me horny anf wanting oh gods
one thought that lives rent free in my head is mutual pining but not yet dating tibarn/reyson and asking as a beorc to touch their wings (to learn their biology of course)
and tibarn naturally agrees while reyson is more reluctant
turns out their wings are super sensitive and your fingers gliding up and down their wings, through their feathers and massaging the sore spot where wings and body content is turning them on
tibarn wouldnt really try to hold back, low groans leaving his mouth while reyson shudders, biting down on his knuckles to suppress his moans while you marvel at their beautiful wings, oblivious to the pleasure you are causing them
maybe its part of a courting ritual too for bird laguz, although reader skipped several steps in between leaving tibarn and reyson to wonder if they know the full extent of their actions
bird laguz;;; pretty
UGH Friend Anon this is all so very excellent. I absolutely headcanon the Laguz having unique erogenous zones related to their animal anatomy- the ears and base of the tail for the Beasts, the root of the wings for the Birds, etc.
And you guys know that I see Tibarn as extremely unabashed about desire and sexuality lol. He'd be the type to really bask in the sensation of your hands at his wings, letting them twitch and flutter with excitement. But eventually, he's going to need you more directly, and he'll get a huge kick out of getting you onto your back and teasing you about how forward you are, and how you must want him desperately if you're so eager to touch him like that. He'll probably find it even more amusing once he realizes you didn't quite understand what you were doing to him
As for Reyson, he's so fun to imagine in this kind of scenario, given that he has some of the demure bearing of the Herons, but is actually more feisty and aggressive than they tend to be overall. So I think he'd be so torn- on the one hand, you're a Beorc, and his nagging lust for you frustrates and perplexes him. He's only recently become comfortable with even befriending those of your kind- and now, all of a sudden, you're basically initiating foreplay and he has no idea how to react. On the other hand... damnit, it feels too good. His pretty face would blush pink and he'd fidget awkwardly, all while struggling to keep in moans of pleasure that part of him desperately wants you to hear~
Ugh I HAVE to write a Reyson smut piece soon, he's just so lovely <3

Edit, 4/30/22: Oh my god I read this while I came across this while trying to find a working link to my commissions and its a great concept that I executed very poorly so excuse me while I fix this mess. Says I posted this in 2021 which is SAD because it was sooo bad so I went and rewrote pretty much all of it! Hope you guys like this one better!
The steps you took were familiar and careful, silent as you could be. You don’t know if it was out of fear or distaste that the Hawk laguz didn’t look your way but you were thankful for it. It gave you a semblance of being alone even if it was because they feared what may happen if they interacted with you. That was okay. It wasn’t father now, a place you found you could be alone.
It was a little dangerous, at least for a beorc like you living in Phoenicis but it was out of the way and gave you time to think. You looked behind your shoulder, seeing that you were alone. This had been someones home once, you think, but now it was your sanctuary away from Tibarn. The actual home its self was pretty worn down but it had a small storage shed one could get into from the interior of the house. It was hardly bigger than a broom closet but it was your space. No one ever came here and hopefully, no one ever would.
Now alone, you couldn’t help but think back to Tibarn. You had been here for roughly a month and time and time again when you thought you could think of a way to escape, or convince Tibarn to let you have your freedom, you were met with the same response.
“I won’t let you run away from me.”
Just remembering him say the words made you fester with sickness and anger. It was true that you couldn’t escape him, not when Tibarn was so much stronger and faster than you; you were stuck hiding from him in his own kingdom, biding your time and growing bitter over your inability to leave. What made it worse was that here, Tibarn didn’t even try to confine you or hide you away; you had freedom of where ever you could reach. Even more, if you were willing to have his help. Everything about this situation made you sick. Stuck in the kingdom of Hawks, no place for a beorc like yourself and forced by the king of Hawks himself to act as some sort of lover. It twisted your stomach and made you sick.
You didn’t even think the Hawk King could ever grow so infatuated with a beorc such as yourself. While you were formidable in your own right, Tibarn was simply something else. Powerful and beautiful, you’re more than certain other hawks, other laguz (a certain blonde Heron comes to mind) would better fit by his side than you. You can’t help but wonder why he insists on trying to woo you when anyone else certainly would have been easier. It again rises an anger in you that’s hard to snuff out. You were so out of if you didn’t even hear another person enter your hiding place until their voice rang out.
“_____, is that you?” Your breath hitches as you hear a voice call out your name. You thought you were hidden so well though, no one should have known you were hidden here. “I don’t know where you’re hiding… but why are you so scared?” You stop breathing as you hear that, trying to calm your beating heart. “Your thoughts are running a mile a minute, it’s nearly enough to make me sick.” Hearing that you pause-- this man’s voice was familiar, but it wasn’t any of the Hawk’s here in Phoenicis. He speaks again “Calm down and please come out.” You blink in realization.
“...Reyson? Is that you?” You cautiously poke your head out from where you were hiding, looking to see the Heron Prince’s perplexed expression. He was alone, thank goodness, but you couldn’t help but be on your guard as you shuffled out of your home, eyes narrowing as you try to look past him to see if anyone was behind him. “Were you followed?”
“Why were you hiding here?” He completely ignores your question as he poses his own, walking over to you and offering you his hand. You take it and allow him to help you out of your hole as he speaks again. “I though you would be with Tibarn.” You frown at that.
“I don’t really want to see him right now.” You admit to him, sighing. You look to him, shuffling on your feet for a moment. You didn’t think anyone beyond the Hawks knew you now resided in Phoenicis. You wanted to trust Reyson (or perhaps it was because he was a Heron you felt this way) but these days, you didn’t know who was your ally. “...Can I trust you with something kinda heavy?” You ask him.
“...Heavy?” Reyson repeats. “Does it have to do with why you’re here and not somewhere more appealing?” He teases. You can’t help but give a small smile.
“Well… yeah actually.” You sigh, but catch the curious look in his green gaze and decide it would be okay to tell him how you feel. Or rather, what was happening to you here. “I… know you really respect Tibarn, and owe him a lot for what he’s done to you but please believe me when I tell you this…” You take a deep breath and peak back to his face to see that he’s focused all his attention on you. It leaves you feeling uncomfortable so you continue pulling at the edges of your clothing and looking to the ground. “I was taken here against my will, and Tibarn won’t allow me to leave. Obviously, with no wings, I can’t make my own escape so, I’ve been here for… maybe a month or more?” You laugh a little bitterly chancing another glace at him. Reyson’s expression hasn’t changed. “As if that weren’t weird enough,” You hesitant to speak and feel the heat rise to your cheeks. Even if it were against your will, you still didn’t know how to properly say it. “He… he claims he’s in love with me. But Reyson…” You feel tears well in your eyes. “Why did he have to go about it like this?” You hadn’t meant to get all teary but you can hardly stop them now. You reach up to stubbornly rub the tears away but a gentle hand does it before you can. You look up at Reyson in shock.
“I had no clue…” Reyson sighs, shaking his head. “You must be so scared…” He coos out the words and you nod slowly.
“I just don’t know what to do,” You want to say you’re stronger than this, but you’ve been strong for a long time. It’s hard, holding it in. More tears seem to come and you can’t stop them. Still, you’re shocked again as Reyson pulls you into a tender embrace. Once your shock is gone, you cling to him. “Thank you.” You words are muffled but he doesn’t seem to mind.
“Don’t worry, just focus on feeling better.” While one arm holds you, his other gently combs through your hair. “Though I hate to admit it, I’m not strong enough to help you out of here myself but I could help you out another way. Perhaps we could speak to Tibarn together.” You sniffle once, trying to regain your voice to speak again.
“You would do that for me?” Your voice is small now as you look to his. Reyson smiles and your feel lighter from beholding it.
“Of course.” Reyson holds you a little tighter. “I care about you to, and want to make sure you’re happy.” You nod against him, taking time to compose yourself. It takes a few minutes but even then, you don’t want to leave Reyson’s embrace. He’s warm, and the first time you wanted to stay in someones company in a long while. Still, you have a chance now. Something worth looking forward to.
“I guess… we should go face him then.” You sigh as you pull away from Reyson. You can see the way he hesitates to pull from you as well but you dare not dwell on it, lest the funny feeling swirling in your stomach play tricks on your poor battered heart.
“No matter what happens, I’ll be here for you.” Even as the two of you part all the way his hand lingers in yours, and gives you a little squeeze. You give him a smile in return and ready yourself for the coming conversion.
As you leave, this time with Reyson by your side, the few Hawks milling about this time of evening pay you little mind. You don’t feel as heavy this time around as you make your way to Tibarn’s chambers, where you left him mere hours ago. Your heart beat reaches your ears as you two approach the threshold. You drop Reyson’s hand as he enters in after you. Tibarn wordlessly looks up from what he was reading, an unreadable look crossing his features at the two of you.
“Reyson, it’s nice to see you again. Thank you for collecting _____.” Your frown at that, mood only souring at the idea Reyson only sought you out because Tibarn asked. Of course, he would have came here to Tibarn first… “And _____ you seem to be in a better mood—or at least, you did.” He laughs and you huff, trying to compose yourself.
“Tibarn. I wanted to talk to you.” Your words come out much more confident than you feel. Still, you sneak a glance at Reyson. He seems as calm and serene as he always is. You take a deep breath.
“Oh, this again?” Tibarn looks to you, to Reyson, smirk rising to his lips. “What do you think has changed from the last time?” He raises an eyebrow at you. You hate how easily he dismisses you, how he basks in knowing there’s nothing you can do.
“I-” You go to speak, but Reyson speaks first. You look to him, cheeks flushing at having been cut off.
“You really ought to treat her better.” Reyson’s first words are chastising Tibarn, confusing you and causing Tibarn to let out a laugh. “I found her huddled in an abandoned building, hiding in a closet.” You blush darker at having your hiding place been thrown out in the open. You’ve no idea what Reyson is trying to accomplish here but you’re left too confused to speak. “You know you have to treat beorc gently.”
“I have been.” Tibarn frowns. “I don’t intend to coddle. There’s only so long she can reject my advances before she gives in.” You look to them as they argue about you as if you weren’t there. The dawning realization hits you that Reyson doesn’t intend to fight for your departure of Phoenicis.
“Honestly, I should have known better than to let you handle this.” Reyson sighs. You can’t help but look at him with wide eyes. “Had I been here from the start, we might actually have made some progress.” Having heard enough of this conversation, you speak up.
“What the hell?” Your voice crying out catches both of the laguz attention and they turn to you. “Reyson,” You can’t help the way you frown as you look at him. “You knew? You knew I was here?” He looks away in shame for a moment. Tibarn speaks for him in turn.
“Aww, did he have you thinking otherwise?” Tibarn laughs cruelly as you only seem to falter more. Reyson throws him a dirty look as you continue.
“Then… you never meant to help me…” Again, you feel tears well in your eyes as your voice crack. “You, you just…” You feel horrible, knowing what Reyson has said to you, the comfort he had given to you was for what…? You can’t even finish your sentence as you start to cry; this time, you don’t even care to be gentle or dainty. You wouldn’t spare them the weight of your full feelings. After all, what did it matter if they would simply do what they want with you anyways? You don’t even have time to move away before Reyson is beside you once more. Tibarn shortly follows him as the two of them now stand beside you. Reyson speaks, attempting to calm you down.
“You have to understand,” Reyson begins speaking and reaches for you. You have no desire to be in his arms anymore and step back, only to run into Tibarn. He rests his large hands on your shoulders and starts to speak.
“We just want what’s best for you.” Now trapped by Tibarn, there’s little you can do to stop Reyson from hugging you. He pulls you close, resting your head against his shoulder as you continue to cry. Tibarn moves to hold the both of you with his larger frame, keeping you trapped between them. You hate how comfortable it is between them. You hate how just being held by Reyson is calming you down. You’re no longer openly wailing, but tears still run down your face. You take a deep breath and speak.
“Why do you guys get to decide what’s best for me? Why did that stop being my choice the moment you two decided you love me?” You know it must be hard to take you seriously, when tears still shine in your eyes and your cheeks are reddened and wet but part of what you said is at least effecting Reyson, from the look on his face.
“Don’t be difficult,” Tibarn sighs, and you can feel the way his heavy breath displaces some of the hair on your head.
“You’re the difficult one,” You counter, huffing and squirming in their shared grip. “And you,” You turn to Reyson, who seems startled by your sudden shift in emotion. “You’re just as bad.”
“Please understand… we only took you here because we want to protect you.” Reyson speaks in a soft tone, trying his best not to test your anger any more.
“Protect me? I could do that just fine if you didn’t take my sword!” You elbow Tibarn in disdain. You doubt it hurt him, but it does cause him to grunt a little.
“I know, you’ve proven you’re plenty fiery.” Tibarn holds you a little tighter as he speaks. “Just get it through your thick skull that we want to be the ones to protect you.” You huff again, quashing the swell of butterflies that fills your stomach at Tibarn’s words.
“We want you by our sides, to be the one to make you happy, to be able to provide for you.” Reyson catches your gaze again, his look pleading. You look anywhere but his face.
“I was never given a choice in the matter,” You again squirm in their grip, uncomfortable with the amount of affection you were receiving form them. “It’s...” You swallow hard, distaste filling your mouth at your next words. “I understand that you think you have the best of intentions, and its sweet that you’re willing to care for me… but I’m not that type of girl. I need a sword in my hand, I want to travel Tellius and fight for what I believe in. I’m not some… some little house spouse for you to dote on. I’m a fighter!” You argue.
“I know you are,” Tibarn laughs. “Just… consider this an adjustment period.” He explains. “If you’re good then maybe we can talk about it more.” You hate how your heart flutters at the prospect of leaving Phoenicis, even if it was under supervision.
“All you have to do is love us in return.” Reyson says it so matter of fact. That sick feeling swirls in your stomach again.
“Why me?” You can’t help the question that falls from your lips. “I mean… you two obviously love one another… why do you need me to?”
“Who really knows.” Tibarn doesn’t offer much an explanation. You should have known.
“There’s something about you… I just can’t place my finger on it.” Reyson doesn’t help much either, to your chagrin. Feeling defeated, you let the two do as they want. “Just let us love you.” You feel Tibarn kiss the crown of your head as Reyson finishes speaking. He then places one on your cheek. “It’ll be easier if you let us.”
“Easier…” You sigh, shaking their head. “Why should I make anything easy for you two?” You offer one last quip.
“Because you haven’t seen the worst of us yet.” Tibarn’s voice is low in your ear. “You don’t want that, do you?” You can see Reyson looking up at Tibarn and scowling.
“Don’t listen to him.” Reyson redirects your attention to himself instead. “What comes first is your comfort.” Funny, coming from the guy who currently has you trapped in his arms. “Love will come… when you’re ready.” Still, the finality of his words leave you just as worried as Tibarn’s threat. The two continue to talk, perhaps to you, or maybe to one another but you can’t find it in you to care. You’re merely left wondering how it all came to this, where it went wrong, and again, how you might get out of this mess.
It seems like you had two choices; comply, and give Reyson and Tibarn what they want; a loving third to their strange relationship that they can dote and protect and do all those strange things they claimed they wanted to do. Or… you could continue fighting. Never settle and always keep them guessing. Make it a chore to keep you around until they don’t love you, or even hate you. Could you really do something like that, though? And were deranged men like them even capable of hating you?
Description: You knew the Heron’s couldn't eat meat but you didn’t think Reyson would be dumb enough to try... Then again, this was Reyson we were talking about. It’s then that you remember imitation meat is a thing back on your world and well, if it was for him it was worth the effort.

Edited, 1/19/23: When I found this I genuinely thought I posted it like 3 months ago. It’s been like, 3 years.
You stood before the stove, pushing around some chicken and veggies on the skillet before you. “So Reyson has lived with you and the Hawks for a while now?” You turn towards Tibarn as you speak, looking up at his tall form in interest.
“Yeah, he has.” Tibarn gave a soft smile, a sight different from the rough look he usually wore. “For a while, he got the idea he could live like we do. It didn’t quite work out for him, though...” Tibarn looked as if he were holding back a laugh as he spoke again. “As a Heron, he can’t eat meat like we Hawks do.” He shook his head and let out a sigh. “He got so sick the last time he tried.”
“He tried more than once?” You frowned into the pan, looking again to Tibarn and waiting for him to continue his story.
“You know Reyson, he’s far too stubborn to give up on anything once.” Tibarn laughed loudly once more, leaving you to sigh and continue cooking.
“He can be such an idiot sometimes...” You stared into the pan, slowly stirring it.
“I have no doubt he would try again, given he was frustrated enough with his own power. But being here-- being with you, it’s been good for him.” You looked over your shoulder to see Tibarn smiling once more. “He’s grown a lot since we’ve came here, all thanks to you.” Tibarn moved to your side and casually took a piece of meat from your stir fry before you could stop him. “So I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, so long as you continue to rely on him like you do _____.”
“You think so…?” You muttered the words to yourself mostly but Tibarn had already begun strolling away. “Hmm… I wish I could do something more then...” You continued cooking absentmindedly, thinking about how this dish would have been a little different had you made it at home. You couldn’t be too picky here in Askr but it would have been nice to have some fried tofu to go with this…
“TOFU!” You suddenly shouted, surprising nearby heroes, who peaked in to make sure you didn’t just hurt yourself. “I could just make imitation meat from tofu for him…!” Seeing you were in fact, fine, the heroes went back to their business; you were prone to odd outbursts like that from time to time, anyways.
You hadn’t done it yourself before but how difficult could making tofu be? You were already pretty good at cooking, so you would just have to study up on how to make it! It would be the perfect gift to Reyson and he wouldn’t get sick from it since it was only soy! Pleased with this plan, you could only hum and dance in place as you continued to finish your current meal. It couldn’t happen today but in the near future it would be good to surprise him! Soon enough cooking and packing your food and able to join some heroes for lunch.
“Oh, what’s got you in a good mood today _____?” Alfonse couldn’t help but notice the skip in your step as you walked with him. You had planned to eat with him and Sharena today in a nearby field of the order of heroes.
“Hm?” You blinked, coming back to reality with his voice.
“Yeah! You seem really happy!” Sharena giggled, skipping right along with you.
“Well, I guess I am.” You giggled, swinging the basket that held your food. “Tibarn told me a story earlier, about how Reyson’s tried to eat meat before-- but since he’s a Heron, his body rejected it.” Alfonse nodded along with your story, and Sharena danced around the two of you as you walked. “Well back in my world, there’s this food called tofu! It’s just fermented soybeans but the cool thing about it is you can use it to make imitation meat! A lot of people with allergies or dietary restrictions have it instead of the real thing.”
“Wow! It really tastes like meat?” Sharena gasped.
“Yeah! It’s not perfect, of course, but it gets so close sometimes you can hardly tell.”
“That’s amazing, your world certainly is strange _____.” Alfonse laughed a little.
“I suppose so, I never thought it odd before now.” You joined him in laughing. “I plan to learn how to make it myself, so I can give to Reyson in the future. I think he would really like that.”
“Aww that’s so sweet of you _____!” Sharena cooed. “I’d like to try it too, though! Save some for me and Alfonse!”
“I’ll try.” You laughed and shook your head. “Why don’t you just focus on what I made for you today, hm?” You suggested, raising the basket and swinging it for them.
“Will do! I can smell it already.” She laughed and ran ahead, excited to be sharing the meal with the two of you. You could only smile fondly as Alfonse chased after her, all abuzz at the prospect of spending time with Alfonse and Sharena and making a meal for Reyson in the future.
Little did you know, perhaps even harder than creating the imitation meat its self, was procuring enough soybeans to do it. They were a little hard to come by in Askr and Anna was hardly willing to let you take from the orders rations for your personal needs. Still, seeing as you had plenty of other food (and promised to make her something nice as well; you were kinda known for your food around the order) she was willing to part with some of it. With what little reading you could find on it here in Askr, fermenting the soybeans would be the easy part. But to get the right type of veggies, produce the right texture and get anything near a similar taste or color to say, chicken or beef? It was far more challenging than you thought it might be…
Still, once you had tofu on your hands (some of the Hoshidian heroes had actually offered to help you, and you couldn’t be more thankful) you spent your time trying to figure out how imitation meat was actually made. For all the cookbooks and recipes you’ve read in your time you did your best. And well, to someone that didn’t eat chicken, this definitely tasted the part. It also didn’t look so bad either and cooked and seasoned with everything else it would most certainly play the part!
“Reyson! Just the person I was looking for!” You stopped him in his tracks from wherever he was going; not that he minded, it seemed you needed his attention more urgently.
“Hm, what is it?” You smiled and looked at him in the eyes and he was surprised at just how excited you were. You definitely had something in store for him…
“Would you join me for lunch tomorrow? I just thought of a great new recipe and I want you to try it with me!” He calmed, realizing that was all.
“Of course, I’d love to.” He smiled and if possible, you grinned wider.
“Perfect! I know you’re going to love it!” You couldn’t help but hug him in your happiness. Reyson was surprised but nonetheless returned the gesture. Only because you hugged him first, of course. Even if he did hold you a bit longer than necessary.
“It’s supposed to be super nice out tomorrow as well, why don’t we meet in the castle gardens?” You suggested, pulling away from him. He nodded in response.
“That sounds lovely, I look forward to it.” You giggled again and continued on your away, calling behind you to Reyson.
“Thanks again Reyson!” He simply waved back to you, not entirely sure what he was getting himself into but finding himself smiling nonetheless. You really were a strange beorc but the more time he spent with you, the more Reyson found he didn’t mind.
You, on the other hand, were more than ready to prepare your best meal yet for Reyson-- he surely deserved it, for all he did for both you and the Order! There was only so much preparation you could do tonight but tomorrow morning you would be sure everything was set and ready for greatness!
“Boy, you seem busy today. Got another little lunch date?” Tibarn waltzed up to you, once again cooking in the kitchen just before lunch time.
“I sure do! Today I’m going out with Reyson.” You grinned. “Check it out!” You laughed, ushering Tibarn over to your pan. You had curry steaming away in a pan. It looked pretty good, actually, Tibarn was a little jealous he wasn’t invited to your little outing too. “You see those little white pieces that look like chicken?” You giggled.
“Uhh, yeah?” Questioningly, Tibarn pulled a piece out and ate it. It tasted… well, not bad, but different somethi. “How did you season this chicken _____?” He frowned. “And why are you trying to feed Reyson chicken anyways?”
“It’s not actually chicken! I made it from tofu.” Tibarn’s eye’s widened. “It’s imitation chicken, so it looks and tastes like the real thing-- but its make from tofu and other veggies.” You soaked in his surprise, smiling knowing you did well.
“Dang, well its not bad. He’s really gonna like this.” Tibarn smiled down at you as you checked on the rice as well. The Order as a whole really was lucky to have a Summoner like you. Tibarn suspected, even if you didn’t realize it yet, your feelings for Reyson ran a lot deeper than you realized; after all, creating a whole, home cooked meal for someone, with a highly specialized ingredient made just for them? What else could it be?
“I’m happy to hear that! I worked really hard on this, so I really hope he likes it.” You smiled down at the food fondly and Tibarn was only left to laugh and take his leave, a knowing smile left on his face.
It wasn’t so much later you found yourself taking the just finished food to your agreed meeting spot in the castle gardens. Reyson was already waiting, looking pleased as he saw you stroll up to the small garden table and place down your favorite basket. “Hope I didn’t keep you too long! It should still be hot so we better hurry!” You cheered, opening the basket and taking out the bowls and utensils first before pulling out the container holding the rice, and then curry.
“I haven’t been here long, don’t worry.” Reyson didn’t bother to try and help you, knowing from heroes how fussy you could be if someone tried to intervene while you were preparing the meal.
“That’s great! I made this dish special for you! Usually it’s a lot more spicy but well, I don’t have a good tolerance for spicy food and I thought it would be rude to just… give you something super spicy for the first time I’ve invited you to eat with me.” You laughed. “In my world, curry is traditional a very spicy Indian food that’s super easy to customize and change as you like; this is a pretty basic one though.” Reyson merely nodded as you spoke, more than happy to hear you ramble about food. You always had this cute smile on your face when you talked about food, or other things you happened to be passionate about. “It’s usually served with plain white rice to help balance the flavors so that’s what we have today!”
After portioning out the rice (Reyson didn’t fail to notice how much was extra-- you likely promised some of this meal to other heroes; you always had a hard time saying no) you opened the container holding the curry. The smell was a lot stronger than he expected it would be but it wasn’t off-putting. It was also thicker than he thought it would be but he wasn’t one to question your cooking; he heard nothing but praises from the other heroes, in fact. He could see carrots, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower as well as red and green peppers in there, you really did put a lot of effort into making this. There was one thing in there he really didn’t recognize but again, he trusted you.
“I’m really excited for you to try it!” After making sure everything was just perfect you took your seat and placed the basket on the ground, waiting eagerly for Reyson to try your food before you even bothered to dig into yours.
Without further hesitation Reyson did just that. You watched with bated breath as he chewed, his eyes widening a little bit as he coughed. It was spicy, but that wasn’t the problem-- Reyson recognized just what he has just ate. Not wanting to be rude, he swallowed the food but afterwards looked at you with concern. “_____…” He cleared his throat and frowned at you. He hated to be mean to you, what with that pout on your face but he had to say something. “You didn’t happen to.. put meat in this, did you?” He was certain he had explained to in the past how Heron’s couldn’t eat meat…
“Oh my goodness, I should have explained myself.” Reyson stared perplexed as you straightened up. “Tibarn told me a story a little while back about how you tried to eat meat with all the Hawk’s and well… got sick from it. That got me thinking! In my world, we have this food called intimation meat, for people who for some reason or another, can’t eat meat. It’s made to look and taste like actual meat but it’s made from plant matter like soy. So… I thought I would try my hand at it…” You fiddled with your fingers, looking down at your own bowl of food. “I didn’t mean to scare you, I’m sorry. Even if you don’t like it you shouldn’t get sick from eating it…” Your words had gone softer and softer until you stopped speaking entirely, moving your food around in the bowl but making no move to eat it.
“It’s… not actual meat?” Reyson looked down at his bowl of food again; you could have easily fooled him, the look, the taste… even the texture reminded him of cooked meat. “You made this for me?” You nodded softly, unwilling to look him in the eye. “It’s… really good, actually. I was simply worried I would get sick eating it but… if you say its made from plants, I’ll be fine.” You finally meet his gaze again and found the he was smiling, so you tried to relax a little.
“You really like it?” You mumbled, still half convinced that he was trying to save your feelings.
“I do. You went through so much trouble to make this for me… Thank you.” You brightened considerably at his smile and laughed softly.
“I just… well, you know, I wanted to treat you. I know you struggle with finding your own place and power… I just thought I would do what I can, both on the battlefield and off, to show you I appreciate the efforts you put in.” You smiled so softly at him. It was that moment Reyson found himself coming to a realization. He stared at you, finally taking your first bite of food and thought it over.
The little crinkle on the corner of your eye when you smiled, the way you put your entire worth into everything you do—from cooking to training heroes-- to how shy you could get or how easy it was to fluster you; he adored everything about you. Reyson adored you. He loved you.
“Reyson? Your food is gonna get cold.” You called to him softly, snapping him from his thoughts. “What’s got you thinking so hard anyways?” You smiled again and it was all he could do to simply smile back.
“Nothing, nothing… I’m just thankful to have someone like you in my life is all _____.” He really and truly loved you… And he was glad, at least, you cared enough for him to do things like this. Reyson returned his attention to the food your worked so hard to make for him and smiled at his bowl of curry and rice. If this food were anything to go by then maybe, you felt the same way.
"It's you. You're it. You're the one i want" with Reyson?
oh anon, I feel the same way. Reyson is amazing??? I love the Laguz so much… put more furries in my inbox tbh they deserve more love
He was a dream. Honestly, you couldn’t begin to explain how much he enraptured you; after seeing Reyson, you understood why the Heron clan was coveted for their beauty. But, it was a beauty you wanted to protect, and see flourish-- not hideaway for yourself.
“Reyson, hello!” You moved quickly to catch up with him, and he slowed to allow you to walk with him. “How are you going today?” You offered him a smile, one which he could not return in earnest.
“I’m doing well, thank you but… Something has been troubling me.” His gaze was downcast, so you took the time to move ahead of him-- Reyson ran into you because of that. He stumbled back and looked at your now worried form.
“Can I help? Something, anything at all?” Now he couldn’t help but give a genuine smile. He loved how willing you were to help others, even when I meant putting your own needs are wants aside. Just one of the many things he had come to love about you.
“Its nothing you need worry yourself over _____.” He assured you. You frowned a bit.
“Are you sure? I really would like to help.”
“Well…” Reyson moved past you to continue walking, and you resumed walking by his side. “I have someone I care for, deeply,” he admitted softly.
“Oh?” You had to quell the sudden burst of adrenaline in your heart.
“But I fear I’m not enough; not strong enough to protect them, that is.” A soft sigh left his lips, and a gentle gaze was cast over you. This time, you were staring at the ground, though.
“How silly to think you aren’t enough for someone.” You hummed a little, trying to still your beating heart. “Anyone who has your heart must be blessed.” You added, a bit quieter. Reyson heard though he choose not to comment in favor of you speaking once again. “You can protect people with more than just power, though.” You added, finally meeting his gaze. The two of you had to pause your walking for you had come to the edge of the garden.
“What make’s you stay that?” Reyson wasn’t yet convinced, but he was willing to hear you out.
“Just look at yourself, Reyson.” Again with your charming smile. You think with all this talk of wanting power, he could find the courage in himself to confess. “I know you want to be more physically capable, but you help motivate our soldiers. And when you can’t help on the battlefield, your taking stock, or helping with meals. Your use goes beyond being able to fight.”
“Plenty of men can do those things...” His voice was low, he was still upset with himself. “What good am I then if I can’t do what they can?”
“Well, I can’t fight either.” You shrugged a little. “Are you telling me you think I’m useless, Reyson?” You giggled a bit at his shocked face.
“Not at all! I only meant...” But Reyson found he couldn’t defeat your logic.
“See what I mean? If I’m not useless, certainly then you aren’t as well. This army needs you just as much as it needs me.” Reyson still was silent, trying to find the words that filled the silence between you. “Tell me, though, who is so important that you feel you must protect them yourself?” You tilted your head to the side, trying to read his gaze that was bowed down.
“It’s you.” His voice was so quiet, you thought perhaps he didn’t speak. But the look in his eyes, so stubborn and determined, you knew you heard right. “You’re it. You’re the one I want; to protect, to love, whatever you would have of me, I want to give to you.”
“Me?” You repeated and Reyson nodded with a smile. “Reyson I… I love you too.” One of his hands found way to cradle your cheek, and the other met your waist. Your arms hung loosely around his neck.
“Won’t you let me try?” he said softly, leaning his forehead against yours.
“I don’t want you getting hurt, either. You're not built like the hawks-- I worry.” He placed a sweet kiss upon your nose.
“If it means that you’ll be better protected, I’ll do anything but… if it's your desire, I won’t push myself to extreme.”
