Yonderly: What kinds of things do they think about when they zone out?

Hikari has a habit of daydreaming. Prior to her recent engagement, she tends to daydream about an alternate universe where her mother is alive and well and she is able to maintain a good father-daughter relationship with the king. She also often thinks about how it would be like if she got along with all her siblings  or how it would be like to be able to play and spend time with her siblings as normal people would. More recently, however, she has begun to think of the possibility of peace and at what a cost the world needs to pay in order achieve it. Her new romantic relationship has her thinking about creating a family of her own someday– a family she wants to raise in a peaceful world. 

Zugzwang: What’s the trickiest problem they face in their life right now?

It may sound totally cliche but one of her weaknesses are her emotions. Because she grew up in an environment where she is made to repeatedly feel that her presence is unwanted and that she is undeserving of the lifestyle she leads as a princess, she has a hard time dealing with her emotions. More specifically, she has trouble understanding her feelings towards certain important people in her life. These days she finds herself possibly falling in love but because the concept of being loved is almost foreign to her, she does not know how to deal with and how to properly demonstrate the emotion towards her loved one.

prompt: Zugzwang: What’s the trickiest problem they face in their life right now?

at the moment, being an objective soldier when it comes to matters of the heart. caring for people is his forte, but caring for them deeply is also his weakness. cero finds it challenging to keep an emotional distance for those who seem to genuinely care for him, although he is well aware that it can backfire at a moment’s notice. he is extremely paranoid, and where the people he cares about are involved, even more so. the problem, then, is to keep his emotions in check, and make sure they don’t keep him from doing his job.

in the grand of scheme of things, cero’s death would go unnoticed. the war would rage on. he was technically a nobody to the rest of the world, which served him well, except that the lack of recognition would probably make sure that his name wouldn’t even be remembered in the years to come. there would be no actual account of his existence; he was sure that his parents probably struck his name from the family registry.

so to be approached by someone he hadn’t seen since the end of the war was something he did not quite expect at all. he didn’t even think he would be remembered by her, of all people, but he supposed helping people escape from the suryans was quite something to be remembered by.

cero blinked, and remained standing at attention. how odd would it be, he thought, for a royal to be seen talking to someone else’s bodyguard.

then again, the suryans did spit in the face of politics; not many felt obliged to abide to the traditional when a change was clearly needed.

“i am very much alive, my lady,” he replied, voice muffled by the mask over the lower half of his face; his smile, too, was hidden from her. only then did he meet her gaze, head tilted to the side as his amusement grew at the look of incredulity on her fair features. “don’t tell me you’re tempted to give your saviour an overdue kiss for saving the damsel in distress?”

[ 1479, The Kingdom of Tempestade ] 

“I got you a present.” 

Hikari looked at the older girl with obvious surprise and eyed the neatly wrapped parcel with caution. It was not a sign of her ungratefulness but rather the reaction was spurred out of her not being used to receiving presents-- let alone from someone she hardly knew. Though a child of only five years, there were a lot of things the second princess of Surya that ultimately caused her apprehension and detachment when dealing with others. 

But despite this, Hikari was still a child and there was no use denying that she wanted the present. Children, after all, had a tremendous weak spot for such novelties. “Thank you, princess.” Little hands cradled the parcel as if it were of a gem of enormous value. The smell of sweet perfume permeated the colored tissue the box was wrapped with and the intricate patterns that covered it made it seem as though the wrapping paper was already the gift. 

It was truly beautiful. 

Once more, she looked up at the older girl who seemed incredibly pleased that she accepted the present. Hikari wondered how the action of her acceptance brought the other such satisfaction when she gained nothing from it but such things were far too deep contemplatives for someone of Hikari’s age. 

“Really, thank you.” She also wondered if this was how it was like to have an older sister or rather an older sister who genuinely cared for you.

the thing about elv isthat winters get very, very cold, and people are often lethargic and slow whenthe season for warm fires and thick sheets of snow and cloth become the norm.

cain doesn’t like slow. nor does he like the fact thateveryone tends to stay indoors – there’s so much of the outside world to enjoy.the risk of sickness is always pushed to the side when winter rolls around, andeven more so when the tempestade children come to visit. the southeners are alwaysfun to mess with in his home territory.

today’s victim, then, isone of the princesses who have been unlucky enough to tag along with herfamily. unfortunately for her, cain’s idea of playtime at six years old involves some form ofphysical assault – the mental kind, he reserves for the ones who look like thescars wouldn’t disappear quite so easily.

his hair is flecked withsoft stars and the tenderness of the early beginnings of winter – not itsbiting harshness – is mimicked by his smile. yet his intentions are anythingbut, and he throws the snowball at the princess with the enthusiasm of asadistic little boy who’s out for blood. metaphorically speaking.

almost instantly, the snow responds to the stompingof his little foot. he can’t throw projectiles yet, but he knows how to do thelittle things, and a ball of packed ice doesn’t take much. “come on, then! you’renot going to just let me hit you, areyou? that’d be no fun at all!”

Tempestade royalty was often considered beautiful, having those Eastern charms. However, the current princes and princess were considered very pretty. Lucas had an angled face, deep set eyes, and a smile that could light up a whole room. His sister was the opposite with big eyes and long legs. But they were both attractive in their own rights.

However what most people never knew about the siblings was how they acted behind closed doors. After a particularly tiring event at the Tempestade castle, Lucas flopped down the ground in exhaustion. “Lilybunny!” he exclaimed, calling for his sister, sitting up. He stood up and shuffled over to cling to her as she seemed to be doing something.

“Bunny....I’m bored. That event was boring....” he said, clinging to her back and ruffling her hair. Usually by rules it should be the younger ones who were clingy but it was actually the oldest in this case and Lucas didn’t even care.
