Rhodes is the only person that ever called Eva “Evie”. The last time anyone had tried to use that nickname for her, she had broken their jaw. Even after breaking her heart, Eva would still let Rhodes call her Evie.

Evelyn and Rhodes actually kept in touch after their initial meeting. He hasn’t called in his favor yet, he doesn’t exactly plan to unless he absolutely needs to, but they touch base once every 6 months or so. They’re not friends, not by any stretch of the imagination, but Evelyn knows Evangeline and Rhodes is still very much in love with Eva. They usually meet up somewhere closer to Nevada and while Evelyn doesn’t understand why he walked away from someone he still so obviously cares for, she does understand his obsessive need to know that his ex is okay. Obsession is something her family is weirdly good at, especially Ren and Bells. It’s not something she deals with due to her lack of attachments, but if she did get to that point in caring for someone, she would likely be just as bad as the two of them. 

It is not a comforting thought to her.

Val is actually the reason Evelyn and Rhodes met. She was worried about Gunner spiraling out of control and of her siblings, Evelyn was the one she trusted the most to get a protection spell from.

Rhodes is a lot older than he ever really let on to Evangeline and it played a part in the reason he initially left her. In all of his years, she had been the first person he had ever had a real attachment to and it scared the hell out of him because she was so young in comparison and he was terrified that if he let that attachment grow and she outgrew him that it would destroy him
