Hi Sam! My friends shared me this article from last year about the phenomenon of French tacos (s whether singular or plural) and I thought it was pretty neat as a light exploration of the development of a new food, and curious if some variation crossed over into A-S :P

happy boops for the cryptids!
Oh my lord.
Technically, the French tacos is a sandwich: a flour tortilla, slathered with condiments, piled with meat (usually halal) and other things (usually French fries), doused in cheese sauce, folded into a rectangular packet, and then toasted on a grill.
There's so much to unpack in this tiny little sentence alone, beginning with calling it a sandwich and then offering THAT DESCRIPTION. But also it sounds fucking delicious.
I do like that the article goes into the more, ah, difficult aspects of it being even called a taco, including the American relationship to "Mexican" (Tex-Mex, generally) food.
But also now I want to try making one myself. I'm familiar with cheese sauces, and I could procure some fries (oh, shit, curly fries in this would be amazing) and some form of spiced meat. I've already been regularly using the flat panini-press side of my waffle irons to make what I've been calling Snack Packets (taco-seasoned beef mixed with refried beans and a bit of enchilada sauce, spooned onto a tortilla with cheese and then folded shut and panini'd).
