has anyone mentioned You're Just Too Good To Be True yet? cuz i gotta tell you i still think about that one ALL THE FUCKING TIME. i also really wanna make a crack here about mixing genres but i will refrain, for you.
Oh man, You’re Just Too Good To Be True is like 50% secrets, I think that is the most I have ever written where stuff is happening where we don’t get to see it and where we don’t get to fully know what’s going on in the characters’ heads. I know what some of that stuff was; some of it I had to know in order to write what we do see, and some of it I came up with just for fun, but there’s still some stuff I don’t know. I have a vague sense of how and when Gansey, Ronan, Blue, and Henry all became fully aware of the Adam set-up, but not perfectly. I think Blue and ESPECIALLY Henry had to have some conversations with Gansey about all of this but…I couldn’t ever really figure out what exactly that looked like. I think Gansey tries to have a heart-to-heart with Ronan, because he feels responsible and like he failed Ronan by being too caught up in his own relationship to pay attention to Ronan’s; that probably goes as well as heart-to-hearts with Ronan ever go.
There’s about a month of story time, between the break up and Adam’s birthday, where we don’t see Ronan at all. I had in mind that after the breakup he ditches school and comes home and that’s the day that Opal moves in, so a lot of that month is spend bonding with Opal. I figure he did drop out of school (Adam notices that he doesn’t go to graduation) although I also like to think that Calla bullies him into getting his GED, just because the Calla & Ronan dynamic in canon is so frigging weird, I wanted to poke at it. I definitely pictured he has some kind of definitive moment with Kavinsky, because that isn’t wrapped up in the actual fic; Ronan comes right out and says he’s going to get in another fight with K, but we don’t see it happen. I had vaguely pictured that as K riling him up, Ronan going along with it because he feels self-destructive, and then deciding that actually he’s not that self-destructive, and he knows what makes him happy and it’s not K. So, basically the same as canon :P
