Every time I watch this I am truly impressed by his ability to write lyrics.

And rhymes.

Him, Flanders and Swann and Tom Lehrer.

They always leave me in awe.

The Holy Trinity (Of Four)

Eddie Murphy, Richard Digance, Robin Williams and Paul Merton.

The four stand up comics remember most from my childhood - the four who have the most influence on my sense of humour.

And the ones of whose stand-up routines (Delirious, Greatest Bits, Live At The Met and Live at The Palladium) I remember the most. Even after twenty, thirty years I still can remember almost all of them (which is more to do with how much I watched them as a kid than anything else).

As you will have gathered, I am a HUGE fan of Richard Digance, and I have a video of his stage show in Brighton (and can still remember most of it despite not watching it for ages cause I have no video player). 

I think it's time that somebody wrote About Malcolm and Margaret, trainspotters of note You can't tell the difference between these two friends With their thermoses, anoraks, notepads and pens Everyone's seen them awaiting a train Drenched to the skin 'cause it's pissing with rain. Huffity puffity, chuffyity chuff And all that other train spotting stuff. I can't see the pleasure- I have to confess Of watching the Glasgow to London express But Malcolm and Margaret are in quite a state As the train I just mentioned was running so late. It was due in at midnight --oh where can it be The station is closed and it's quarter past three Hickory dickory dickory dock  And round and round go the hands of the clock. All the commuters are tucked in their beds And all of the engines asleep in their sheds Malcolm and Margaret both anorak clad  Stand on the platform dejected and sad They huddle together to keep out the cold Then Malcolm starts getting incredibly bold. Rickerty, Rackerty, rickerty rack And train spotter Margaret is flat on her back! "I never knew trainspotting could be so much fun" Said Margaret stretched across platform one. And Malcolm said yes it felt like a dream I felt like the Mallard as I gathered steam! You were more like the Flying Scotsman to me- Said Margaret who once had a bloke from Dundee! Rickerty, Rackerty, rickerty roo And trainspotter Margaret is long overdue. They made love on platforms eight, nine and ten On thirteen and fourteen they did it again And now that you know what happened that night You'll never see train spotters in the same light "I wish you'd been a mail train"-she said with a kiss "As a letter or two would have not gone amiss!" Huffity puffity, chuffyity chuff And all that other trainspotting stuff.

I think the reason I really like this song is that it has some of the BEST rhyming schemes ever in any song.
