Most of us the world came to know Voices via the web. It was a small UK release that ended up making huge waves around the world when it was bootlegged online. Because of this, we grew to know most the cast of Voices who become full fledged pros shortly after. Little did people know that there was another rider section tucked into the bonuses which most people didn’t see.
Voices was not how we came to recognize Ricky Feather. No, I want to credit Ricky Feather’s coming up with the never ending ‘table vs invert’ debates online. At the time Mike Aitken ruled the world and obviously everyone wanted to be Mike so there was a lot of brown bikes, castro hats, and unfortunately girl jeans... but that conversation is for another day. What Mike Aitken really blew up was the trick called the invert. It was more or less his trick, not as in he created it, he just made it his cause he was so damn good at it. Everyone wanted to overtweak their tables to the point they were inverts and a picture online surfaced of someone doing just that at the brick bank that was predominately featured in Voices. No one really knew who the rider was they just knew that he had inverts down. Word got around and we’d come to know it was Ricky Feather. A bit later than the rest of the Voices crew, he’d eventually have a brief stint in BMX before moving on the artisan work of frame crafting with his own Feather Bikes. Regardless Ricky was rad throughout his tenure, had an awesome pegless style and definitely held his own in the invert game. What makes this section so interesting is that it seems like a good portion of it is in Northern California contrast to the rest of Voices which was either parts of the UK and Barcelona.
