I totally feel you about IHSA. It's a terrible way to measure riding skills, so don't let it get you down. I was so excited to be on the team, but after just one semester I was done. I was always frustrated and it took away my confidence and my skills. I just didn't enjoy riding anymore. I ended up quitting the team because it wasn't cheap and I didn't get anything out of it. It sucks not riding all the time, but now when I do ride during breaks, at least I love it again and feel good about it.
I know! It really doesn’t measure riding skills very well because it really depends on the horse you draw and it is dumb in that sense. I am trying other barns and having other ideas, but I will probably end up riding on the team for all four years just because it is on campus and I don’t want to cut ties with them. Thanks for your insight!

Bored, so here's my story :) Started riding when I was 5 and showing when I was 14. I did the hunters for a while, because that was mostly what my barn did, but I really didn't enjoy it. I thought if I leased a better horse I would enjoy it, but that didn't work. I went back to riding my previous lease (I'd loved riding him but he wasn't a hunter). I finally got up the courage to try the jumpers, completely fell in love with it, riding was fun again, and lived happily ever after :)
Hunters is very specific, boring, and somewhat political, so that doesn’t surprise me man. Jumpers is fun as shit, though, you go.
This looks just like Colorado riding, I must go there.
