Dr Bernard Rieux from "The Plague" by Albert Camus!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
I find him so sweet, he's always trying to do the best he can to help others and his little habits (like falling asleep in the car) make him so endearing - he truly is the world's most tired doctor XD
Out of all the Camus books I've read so far, he's probably my favourite protagonist and a good example of how to respond to the absurd - I think what makes him so likeable is that despite him having to become indifferent to do his job well, inside, he's still such an emotional person and still tries to show as much empathy and understanding as he can to others. I've seen him be described as a "Pollyanna" (staying optimistic, even in the worst of situations) and I think that fits quite well, since even at the end of the book where his initial idealism has been shattered, he still maintains a lot of hope in the goodness of humanity. <33
I do sometimes imagine him wearing circular glasses, although I couldn't draw them properly without them looking weird in my style :'DD
