The higher you go, the harder it is to find those who can tell you the truth. So happy to hear this year’s World Press Freedom Day is themed: “Speaking Truth To Power”. Kids hate parents who feed them vegetables but love those who give them candy. Too many leaders are destroyed because they surround themselves with people who’ll serve them candies, chocolate and soda. And once they get addicted to this, to serve them veggies is to risk your very life or friendship or privilege. This is why Africa struggles. The praise singers drown out all truth with their their loud gong gongs. This is why very promising businesses implode. It is why lots of people with great talent never realize their full potential. Kudos to all the journalists and people of integrity all around the world, who risk their lives and comforts everyday to ensure that Truth reigns; that leaders see clearly; that children who grow feathers too quickly know that the higher your pride, the lower your fall. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial utilizó su trabajo como estrategia para acceder al gueto de la ciudad; además, organizó a un grupo de personas, incapaces de ser indiferentes con la necesidad que vieron, para ayudar y salvar a los niños judíos del gueto de que se los llevaran a campos de concentración. Se estima que salvó cerca de 2.500 niños del gueto, trasladándolos a otras familias que les acogieran y cuidaran; Irena quería que pudieran recuperar su identidad y sus verdaderos nombres, incluso sus historias de vida y sus familias por lo que archivó los nombres de los niños y sus nuevas identidades.
