There came a knock on Riley’s door. Officially, it was a base assignment -- Sylvia was to be assigned to duty at Badlands for a couple of weeks. At least, she wouldn’t have to stay the night there, but it did give her an excuse to see her son.

This wasn’t Phil’s room, she already knew. And technically, she wasn’t allowed near the living quarters. She wasn’t allowed on the field during work hours, but if other mercenaries could break the rules, so could she.

There's something about the way Step connects with Argent

There's something about this little trading of secrets (that Ortega doesn't know) that tickles me so much. There's a comfort in Argent that they generally don't seem to feel around the others, looking into her mirrored skin and getting their own monstrosity reflected back at them. Idk, I just find them delightful, and I love that Argent is chronologically the first to know who's really under the helmet.
