Larksharius and Rimerock. How can I talk about one without the other? They’re Alrakis, the twin stars.

He orders another glass of that mediocre Andoren wine he loves so much before he gets started. From his eager smile you can tell there's a story.

When I made my pilgrimage to meet the ancient silver dragon Rimerock I was anxious, if you can believe it. I’m not shy, I’m sure you’ve noticed, but my specialty is people. Dragons are very different creatures. I humbly confess I know little about them except when it comes to baby havoc dragons, and I’m out of my depth even with the noble metallic sort who don’t usually roast people on sight. I left Aivu behind because—well, Hal is still trying to teach her dragon manners. And Jharsy’s just too young and controversial to act as an ambassador, so I went by myself.

When I approached him I wasn’t sure if Rimerock would try to kill me, but after I explained why I was there he agreed to talk, and he even invited me into his home. He was dignified, reserved, but cordial. He seemed not to know what to make of me at first either.

And then into the study where he received me suddenly appeared the archlich. Larksharius. Nothing like you’d expect—soft-spoken, graceful and welcoming, bringing us hot tea.

Once Lark joined us, Rimerock thawed toward me. Haha, I only figured it out later. Ri is just shy!

They’ve both lived through so much. Hearing them talk is like learning the vast history of an empire. It’s not what I was there to ask Rimerock but I learned a great deal from both of them about immortality… and its dangers. Especially loneliness.

Rimerock has had to fight his way to peace, against outside forces and against himself. It’s never-ending, and yet he perseveres. I think because he shoulders a lot of blame and self-doubt and feels he owes it to the world to keep fighting. He holds himself to an impossible standard. He’s so much better than he thinks.

And Lark—in undeath they’ve often drifted toward the River of Souls and tested its waters for the respite they offer, but they’ve also hung on even when it felt like there was nothing to hang on for. Such a gentle soul to have been hurt so much. Ultimately, they were right not to let go, because they found Ri.

The two of them are ancient and wise, but to my surprise and delight there’s something youthful about how they look at the world—fresh and full of wonder.

That comes from their love. Since they found each other it’s spring again.

I have the deepest respect for them, but now that I know them better, affection too. Ah, they’re so in love! You can’t help filling up with it when you’re around them. You go away feeling refreshed and full of hope. Ri wasn’t able to help me with all my questions, but I found something I hadn’t even known I needed. And I have a couple new friends. And possibly babysitters for Aivu when Hal can’t take any more.

@arrow90-art's Larksharius and Rimerock... they were a lot of fun to draw, especially Ri! I just love armor... and dragons are the whole reason I learned to draw in the first place, so this felt terribly nostalgic... They both have such lovely designs and I'm glad that I got the opportunity to draw them!

I am tempted to make a modern au for the trio. Blackstar rented a room in the couple's house.

Left: Blackstar, a Biomedical Engineering graduate, moved to a new city somewhere North for her new job. She doesn't like to wear her jacket but gets cold easily, so she borrowed Lark's sweater.

Mid: Larksharius, used to be a cardiac surgeon until their health issue had them quit the job. Now a freelance artist and a parent to 6 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 birds. They borrowed their partner's coat.

Right: Rimerock, officer. Once a heavy smoker but quit smoking for his lover. He's not so happy, coz the other two missed his phone calls while he was shopping for groceries after work. Answer his phone plz he's shopping for you two.

10. Do they have any regrets?

No. All things happened in the past they do not care anymore, many memories are buried so deep in the emotionless years of life that they find it difficult to recall. It is now almost impossible for them to recall their feeling in the past. Most of their memory is used to record knowledge and some extremely rare treasured memories.

They do have some enemies. Most are those who got pissed while Lark was pursuing rare knowledge. Lark is quite bold and will not hesitate to trade/fraud/steal secret/forbidden knowledge from powerful beings (even demon lords and evil gods, as long as they are capable to make their way out).

Lark did not mind, but this worried their many-headed patron. It split one of its serpent heads into three. Its blood during the process was made into 3 orbs. If an orb breaks after hitting the target, the serpent will attack until either it or the target is dead. Once all 3 orbs are used, Lark has to fulfill one of its requests. The price is unknown, so the orbs are the last thing Lark wants to use.

Another story during the fifth crusade. In chapter V, Rimerock was called by the silver dragon Hokugal to help them battle the ancient black dragon Lathimas. At that time Ri only had less than 7 days to live. Lark followed their dragon pupil and fought the black dragon alone. With all the corpses they could manipulate, they took down Lathimas before Blackstar arrived. (Blackstar was tearing the Ineluctable Prison apart.)

38. What are their dreams like? Do they have any recurring dreams/nightmares?

They used to dream of new ideas and a wonderland where residents were peaceful and focused on invention. But this was when they were alive as a human.

Now their undead body is incapable of dreaming, they do not even have real sleep. The only case Lark falls asleep is when they overused their power and exhaust their soul&body to an extreme. In this case, their soul is forced out of their body and flows to the river bank of the River of Souls. Lark is unconscious when this happens. It's a rare life-threatening moment for them, and their only way out is to wake up and get back to their body. There is no recorded method to help lich in this situation, but the worried shakes from two anxious dragons are proven to be working.

29. If they were real would you be friends with them? (Blackstar)

The answer is probably no? We can be friendly to each other, but I'm afraid that's probably not enough for her to consider me a friend. I am too dumb, quiet, and ordinary/boring for her, absolutely no help for her plans and no fun to talk to. Maybe she can be my teacher if she's not terribly busy.

37. Are they religious? If so do they have a strong sense of faith, are they uncertain, or are they somewhere in between? (Larksharius)

Ah, not at all. They never considered worshipping any deity. It's worth mentioning that they are born with a special soul which attracts powerful creatures. It brought them unwanted attention, in most cases, the bad ones. Some good deities (Brigh, Thoth) and demon lords (Abraxas) showed interest in them. A powerful one helped them transform from a lich into an archlich. It claimed to be their patron and offered to give Lark its mark, but they never accept. (This one still looks after them, in a cunning and indifferent way.)

17. How easily would they be convinced to do something that goes against their morals? (Rimerock) (warning: going a bit nsfw. adult activities and related trauma ;3)

It depends on who's asking. It's extremely hard for almost everyone to convince him considering he's unyielding and stubborn. Ri yields to his loved ones only.

Even so, it still took Lark years to talk him into having sex. Ri thinks he should never ask for intimate contact considering Lark's traumatic past, even though Lark is no longer bothered by the said trauma for hundreds of years.

( OMG my eyes were blurry and my brain has holes, I was answering for Blackstar omfg... Merlin's beard I will post for two of them since I already answered. ;;;;;;3 I'm so happy you ask for my old lizard! )

5. Do they have any tattoos? If so what are they and do they have any special meaning?

Rimerock has no tattoos! But the corruption left black spiral marks on him and they spread from his chest to all over his body. He hides these marks when polymorph, but they are so obvious in his dragon form that they look terrifying. Also, when the corruption drives him mad, those hidden marks show, whatever forms he takes.

Blackstar has no tattoos. Instead, she was born with a birthmark! It's a star pattern on her forehead that only appears when she's in dragon form. The mark is a brighter ultramarine, and more visible when she was younger. Now it's a dark grayish blue. She doesn't know what it represents. The gold dragon who adopted her named her after this mark. Her real name is Black Star in Draconic.
