I think Rin and Koneko's relationship in canon is absolutely wonderful. After Koneko sees Rin as more than just the son of satan and starts to see him again as a close friend and companion, he gives Rin that "trump card" status

not to mention that Rin is absolutely smitten with Koneko

i feel like their relationship would be all cute shit like eating lunch together, koneko helps rin with homework, they play with kuro, rin decorates the bentos in a cat theme
