Conference
Hello readers!! Hope everyone enjoyed the final of the master! I was very happy that Sergio was able to pull it off finally! I have been waiting for this win for a while!
Today I want to talk about the conference tournament in college golf. I believe that it works different for every division in the NCAA and I know for sure that it works very different in the NAIA. So I am going to tell you how it works in NCAA Division 1, as that is what Kennesaw State belongs too. Also I want to tell you how important it is for Americans to get the ring!
Every school belongs to a conference, it is not determined by region or proximity it is just a group of schools that form a group. At the end of the spring season we play the conference championship, which is all the schools from the conference competing against each other. Kennesaw belongs to the Atlantic sun conference with other 6-7 schools, it is competitive but there are bigger conferences such as the BIG10 or the ACC. To get the ring you need to win conference and for athletic departments and coaches getting this award is the ultimate goal! I have a ring already and I cannot wait to get my second one this upcoming week. It is definitely a great experience and it is all worth the effort. For my coach it is a really big deal as she gets a bonus but the recognition is worth more than the money. We as a team also get a bonus from adidas as they are our official sponsor and next season we get recognized in a football game which is really nice!
I really look forward to this week due to many things as I am a senior and this would be my last time playing the tournament! Also if we win we get to go to regionals, which is another amazing experience! So it goes conferenceàregionalsànationals. As a school we have never been able to make it to nationals, as we have to play really good in regionals but maybe this would be the year!! Not every school needs to win conference to enter regionals, the top 50-55 schools (according to golfstat, read my previous post) get an automatic spot, we currently are ranked 78 so we have no other choice but to win conference.
But I know we will ;)
