A note: Nin’s ‘Devout/Questioning’ slider tends to move radically towards the ‘Questioning’ side after the events of What Pride Had Wrought.

From my twins to yours, were they ever super competitive with each other? If so, are they still like that? Thellan and Tamris would always try to one-up each other and their mother was just on edge all the time because which one of them is going to hit the other with a stick?
Their mother must have had the patience of a saint haha
Nin doesn’t really have a competitive spirit, but his sister’s the only person who could dare him to do anything.
And she took advantage of that, oh yes.
Now, when they meet again, there might be some time before their old games resurface. But as they say, old habits die hard.
It starts with a simple:
“Hey Nin. Look at this thing. What even is that?““I think Iron Bull said it was a kind of dwarven ale or something.”“This looks so foul. And the smell! I bet you couldn’t drink that.”
An exchange of looks and a mirrored smile later, Nin takes a whole swig of the thing.
Did Nin ever stumble upon his sister in a heated situation? that or did she ever?
[I’m not sure which kind of ‘heated situation’ you mean, but my mind went straight to the sexy kind of ‘heated situation’, I hope that’s alright haha]
Rinna never did stumble on her brother, but he did. Sort of.
Their father was responsible for the training of several young hunters, and one of them fell for Rinna. Both of them were young and in love and eventually one romantic night led to their first time. Rinna took her boyfriend to her family’s aravel, which was supposed to be empty at the time.
Except that they hadn’t noticed that Nin was actually in there, nested in a pile of blankets.
Poor thing bolted out of the aravel red as a tomato, half-naked and wrapped up in his blanket.
My Aislyn's an orphan raised in Clan Lavellan, along side the Keeper's two daughters; he affectionately refers to as his 'sisters' and they refer to him as their brother. He loves, is very proud and protective of both of them, but often feels that he'll never match them because one, they're both amazing mages while he's just a hunter, and two, they're 'actually Dalish and belong' while he has no idea where he's from. Is there ever a point where your twins feels lesser, or jealous of their sib?
I hope that Aislyn knows that no matter where he is from, and no matter whether he is a mage or not, he does have a place to call home and people who love him for who he is <3 Also, despite what he might feel, Aislyn wears the vallaslin, so he is Dalish and he belongs.
Aaaah poor thing, I need to give him a hug u_u
To answer your question, before Rinna left the clan, her and Nin both saw the other as their equal, there’s no question there. From Nin’s end, there never was any jealousy, nor feeling of inferiority.
However, there was a time when Rinna felt a bit jealous of Nin because thanks to his training, Nin got to spend more time with the Keeper’s First, and she was very fond of him.
Rinna might have felt a bit envious when she was banished, too. Because she felt like she fell so low and lost herself. She surprised herself when she realised she really wanted to be in her brother’s shoes for the first time. For a while, yes, she felt lesser than her sibling. But she eventually found her purpose and thinking back, she knows she wasn’t lesser than anyone for following the path she chose for herself.
Nindarhmen and his twin sister Rinnariel have a little chat about Nin’s social life.
Set in the modern AU.
As per usual, Thalon is @ourinquisitorialness‘.
"What are you smiling about?" Rinnariel asks after taking a gulp of her beer.
She and her brother were on the balcony of Nin’s Parisian flat, enjoying some drinks in a warm summer evening.
“Nothing.” Nin’s reply is accompanied by an even bigger smile.
“Hah! Your stupid face says otherwise.”
Rinna watches her brother drink all too slowly the last of his own bottle, then set it aside.
“Thalon asked me out yesterday.”
Rinna’s eyes go wide and she stands up, holding her bottle in the air.
“Hallelujah!” She all but yells. “Fucking finally!”
Nin’s cheeks are an outrageous shade of red, but he can’t stop giggling as his sister musses up his hair.
“You guys sure took your time!” She laughs. “I was wondering if one of you would ever make a move.”
“I told you I wanted to be certain.”
“I know, I know. And I get it, I do.” Rinna takes the last sip of her beer. “You said yes, I assume? Don’t tell me you said you’d think about it.”
“Please. I am not that stupid.” Nin’s efforts to look offended are vain, and Rinna snorts at him. “He took me to dinner. We had a lovely evening.. “
Nin’s voice trails off, and he can’t help but bringing his fingers to his lips with a smile, his eyes staring into space.
“Oh my god. You kissed him.”
“Sure did.”
“And did you... ?” Rinna’s hand gestures are pretty self explanatory, and Nin is glad he wasn’t drinking at this moment.
“Kol khara!”
“Hey, I was just asking!” She takes her brother’s hand in hers. “Come here.”
Nin stands up with the help of his sister, and the two siblings hug. Nin is giggling again.
“I’m happy for you, right?” Rinna whispers. “And you should be, too. You deserve to be happy. I know you wanted to make sure and all, but I know you. You didn’t want to make the same mistake again, and you wouldn’t have made any move, you dumbo.”
“Maybe. I don’t know. I am happy though, that much is true.”
Rinnariel gently pulls away from their hug and snorts once again.
“You’re going to have to bring him home to mum.”
“Aaah... well. Let’s just wait for a little while, alright?”
“You’re afraid she’ll scare him away with her constant pampering? Pfff I hope he likes cakes and spicy cooking.”
“I’m not worried about mum scaring him away, I’m afraid about me scaring him away.”
“Hah. As if you could scare off anyone with your face. You know, if he can put up with you being an insufferable Tolkien nerd and a hopeless romantic, then you should be fine.”
“Well he’s as much a nerd as I am.”
“Yeah I know, I remember the last Lord of the Rings marathon all to well, thank you very much.”
“The face you made at the beginning was priceless!” Nin laughs. “You were all like ‘oh no now there are two of them’!”
“Kol khara!” Rinna’s retort is followed by her sticking out her tongue. “Seriously though, stop torturing yourself. You two are made for each other. When you introduced him to me, that’s the first thing I thought.”
“I remember you texting me this during that very afternoon while we were with him at the café.”
“And I was, once again, completely, unequivocally, unsurprisingly right.” Rinna says while taking a bow. “Oh, I need to send a text to Carver. That bet’s all mine!“
“You’ve been taking bets?! Rinna!”
“Oh yeah we have, and I just won a night to Disneyland!” Rinna smiles her most wicked smile. “Not the kid’s Disneyland, if you know what I mean.”
“Oh my god.”
Nin is hiding his face inside his hands when his phone chimes.
“That’s a text from your boyfriend, most likely.” His sister chuckles.
A quick glance at the screen tells Nin that she’s right.
Something with “Death is going to die.”? It's an interesting one hehe
Indeed it is! Thank you :D
“Death is going to die.”
Nindarhmen stops his humming, slowly opening his eyes. His sister sits next to him. She’s looking in the distance, brow furrowed, one hand on the back of her neck.
She’s hearing it again.
She’s the same age as him, but somehow she looks older. Grey and silver pepper his own crimson hair, whereas hers is almost all white. The Taint creeps up on her skin day after day.
Nin is grateful to have her back at his side, but his gratitude is a bitter one.
Will I ever stop counting days?
Nin sighs, putting his hand over Rinnariel’s.
“What was that?” he asks quietly.
Rinnariel doesn’t flinch, she doesn’t move an inch.
“Death is going to die.” she repeats, “She said that to us. That she would find a cure. That she would kill our slow building death.”
Rinna turns to her brother. No matter how hard he looks, Nin can’t find the light that used to be in her eyes.
She looks so exhausted.
“If anyone can find something, it’s her. But I am tired, ‘damen. I don’t know if I can wait for her.”
“I will wait with you, no matter what you decide.”
“I know.”
Rinnariel rests her head on her brother’s shoulder and closes her eyes. After a moment, Nin closes his eyes as well.
For a while, the sound of Nin’s soft humming is the only sound Rinna can hear, and she desperately hopes never hearing anything else ever again.
