𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟." -𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐦𝐚𝐧 In memory of two-time Academy Award winning actor Gene Hackman who has passed away following a tragic incident at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa and one of their three dogs. Born Eugene Allen Hackman on January 30th, 1930 in San Bernardino, California Died on February 26th, 2025 (age 95) in Santa Fe, New Mexico (Though their deaths were announced on the 26th after their bodies were discovered by maintenance workers, Gene, Betsy and their dog had apparently been dead for a number of days.) Gene won a Best Actor Academy Award in 1972 for his performance in The French Connection (pictured above with his Oscar and posing with Jane Fonda who won Best Actress that year for Klute). He also won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his work in Unforgiven (1992). A respected and well-liked actor in Hollywood, Hackman's other memorable performances include his roles in Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Poseidon Adventure (1972), The Conversation (1974), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Superman (1978) and its sequels Superman II (1980) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) in which he played Lex Luthor, Hoosiers (1986), Mississippi Burning (1988) for which he received his second Best Actor Oscar nomination, Postcards from the Edge opposite Meryl Streep in 1990 (as seen in the gif above), and The Birdcage (1996) among many other film and television appearances. Gene retired from acting in 2004 and spent his final years painting and writing novels, Wake of the Perdido Star in 1999, Justice for None in 2004, Escape from Andersonville in 2008, Payback at Morning Peak in 2011 and Pursuit in 2013.
