Me a steddie shipper and my partner a stonathan shipper fully convinced we’re both delusional and nothing was gonna happened in the actual show watching season 5: how the fuck did we both win something we didn’t even sign up for the bets
re: jancy
the duffers really said celibacy is the answer here. NONE of you are dating each other
one thing that breaks my heart a little bit is when i see byler posts from after vol 1 was released and before vol 2 was released…. everything was going so well, we had so much hope
and then they hit the vol 2 tower
The duffers love to say that it’s rare for someone to stay with their high school partner (jancy, rovickie) and yet Mike and El are endgame and they’ve been dating since they were 12???? Sure
I know the writing this season is bad BUT Nancy and Jonathan’s breakup scene was beautifully written. I think most of you who didn’t get it weren’t concentrating or just haven’t seen a ‘good’ breakup scene before this one.
Rest in Peace Jancy: A Eulogy
What a great ship you were. So powerful, in fact, not only tha actors got together, but the stunt doubles as well. I'm so sorry the Duffer Brothers fumbled the characterization of Jonathan so bad that it destroyed all on-screen chemistry you had. I'm sorry that the writers forgot to maintain the established competent and complex couple that you were.
A dissolution of the relationship was all that was left to do, like shooting a dog to put it out of its misery. At least this dog was put down gently with love and care. The writers remembered your characters and their arcs and ended it sweetly.
As for the future, the door is open for anything. One can go on to imagine Stancy, or even Stonathan, if they wish. One could imagine a lifelong friendship, Platonic Jancy. And one can realistically imagine years down the line a version of these characters that have healed from the damage done to them by the writers. A version of Nancy and Jonathan that find each other again. A Jancy that has grown back into love.
