Ok, so. Warnings for aaaaaa a major character death
So I was thinking about Spirit Tracks. It's not too far from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. Zelda is the granddaughter of Tetra. Linebeck III is the grandson of Linebeck. Descendants of old characters are mentioned in Spirit Tracks (save for some characters ofc). You got Alfonzo, Niko, and even Anouki and Jolene.
But Link is not mentioned. Once. You can excuse Aryll and his grandma and the rito cuz they probably stayed in the Great Sea. But I don't think Link wouldn't be apart of this new Hyrule. He cared about Daphnes and he cared about the future of Hyrule. But he's not mentioned once. Zelda knows Tetra and talks about her a lot. But not Link.
So long story short. Link dies. Young. Perhaps he sacrificed himself to save people, or perhaps he was killed, but he died before new Hyrule was created. Tetra was left alone with their daughter and decided to honor his desire to create a new Hyrule. Linebeck decided to retire on the seaside and doesn't go on the ocean anymore because it's not the same. Link doesn't die as a kid, probably in his early 20s, but he dies very young. He's happy to save his friends, but it's tragic to everyone else.
