My all time favorite Zelda game is Skyward Sword and it always will be, grr.
Also, I'm a totk hater 💔 there will be totk salt here. A lot of it. A Great Sea of salt, if you will.
Zelda games I have played: Breath of the Wild (finished), Sksw (finished 2x), Totk (dnfed), AoC (ALMOST finished), Ocarina of Time (finished) Hyrule Warriors DE (I dont believe finishing this game is humanly possible), EoW (started), Link's Awakening (started), Spirit Tracks (50%ish?), A Link Between Worlds (50%ish?), Majora's Mask (it's complicated.), Twilight Princess (40% done already 😛), Wind Waker (just started)
I have all three of those big boy books and I've read all of the Akira Himekawa mangas (do not own them all, however, bless my school library), so I have SOME knowledge of the games I haven't played/finished yet.
My favorite colors are orange, green, and purple!
Fav musical artists: Alex G, Hemlocke Springs, Phoebe Bridgers, Adrianne Lenker, Fall Out Boy, Tyler the Creator, Beabadoobee, Mitski, Cavetown, Doechii, Nirvana, Bad Bunny, Miracle Musical (Tally Hall), Gigi Perez, SZA, and the Crane Wives.
While I may like the music these people make, I do not particularly consider myself a fan of any of them as people, seeing as I do not know them.
My favorite movie EVER is actually I Saw the TV Glow but I'm never fucking watching it EVER again!!!

friendly reminder that it's most likely that once each link goes back to their own timeline they are gonna have to wait 100-1000+ years after their death and between each new member reuniting in the afterlife to meet another of the chain members again. and that's not even touching on the fact that they will have to wait around 50,000 years after the second last person (Hyrule most likely) to see Wild again even after the other eight reunite.

is it nostalgia from the fact that it was my first zelda game? yes. do i still firmly believe that it was one of if not the best zelda games? absolutely.
i understand that people had a gripe with the hand-holding and going back to areas and whatnot but i liked it. the hd version removed some of the hand holding which is super understandable and i think made people like it more, but as a kid i really liked it. like instead of google it was right there in the game. the super loud console sounds when you would talk to the sheikah stone <3.
fi's low battery popups were actually not that bad and kinda useful for me too. i love fi. thats my robot sword spirit girl. shes blue and shes autistic and shes so wonderful and amazing.
and revisiting the areas, while tiring at times, felt like a great way to expand the world without adding too many new things. finding out more and unlocking more of things we had already seen felt so much more satisfying than it would have been to find a completely new area. the items were so creative and the new areas used them so well
and dont get me started on the motion controls.
the motion controls got SO MUCH HATE
and maybe it was just me but i loved them. the wii remotes were genuinely so nice as controllers. obviously calibration could get kind of off but for me it worked well.
being a kid and swinging the wii remote around like a sword and aggressively thrusting my nunchuck was so fun. and it was such a cool use of technology that they didnt really have before that they didnt really use again.
playing twilight princess on the wii (which i got after i got skyward sword) and pressing buttons to do different attacks just didnt feel as fun and exciting, and getting to swing the sword in all different directions with motion controls for skyward sword was so cool to me.
and the art style and characters????
god the watercolors never get old for me. breath of the wild/tears of the kingdom have great landscapes and whatnot and twilight princess's dark art style is so moody and fits so well but skyward sword is just stunning.
it took twilight princess's realism and added so much color to it. the characters are SO expressive and the soundtrack is so fun and it feels like it perfectly encapsulates the story.
skyward sword in itself gives off those same wonderfully artistic watercolor vibes and i just cannot understand how anyone could hate it.
Wild and Warriors both basically have cosplays of the ENTIRE chain. So imagine they both realize this, show their little cosplays off to each other, and then at the end, for a surprise, they wear their cosplays of... each other.
"You have a cosplay of me too!?!?!?"
"Your wig SUCKS. My hair does NOT look like that!!!"
Regardless of wig quality, they devise an evil plan. They wear each other's cosplay, and pretend to be each other. Horribly. But they deny being in a costume vehemently.
I wonder how the other people in hyrule feel about Link's wardrobe. Like, you've got your regular outfit, m'kay? regular shit. Regional gear, useful in the different areas of Hyrule. How the fuck did he get a Yiga outfit?

I decided to try my hand at TLOK style (is it obvious that I had a self-insert eight years ago?), and since I very much enjoyed it I think I'm gonna stick to it with the other boys as well. I'm just so hyped with the amount of avatar content we're getting this year that I can't help it
No new notes for this guy, other than 1). I made him even more jacked 'cause earthbenders are just built different (maaan Twilight's gonna be fun to draw); 2). I've added different patterns to his tunic and 3). he's got a kid design now!
I also want you to know that he is roughly 5 and a half heads tall and barely reaches Time's chest
I think the Zelda fandom has an issue with babying Link and pitying him at every turn, yet many are very quick to point fingers at Zelda for tripping or messing up when the weight of an entire kingdom and more is falling on her shoulders as well.
Like with Skyward Sword Zelda and Hylia. "She used him!" Okay, well, it was either use Link or the apocalypse begins and everyone super dies horribly. Necessary choice that she also expressed extreme guilt for having to make.
Grown ass men also LOVE to throw tomatoes at Ocarina of Time Zelda, who was literally ten years old. Just... what? Seriously??? You do the shit she had to do at her age without making a mistake, good lord.
OH, and Breath of the Wild Zelda, a teenage girl who had her father constantly looming over her shoulder and berating her over something she genuinely couldn't control, PLUS projecting his own insecurities onto her and repeating gossip she should NOT have to have on her conscious.
She was constantly struggling at her duty, which has been hung over her head and drummed into her skull her entire life, so when she sees Link, who appears to have just waltzed into his destiny with ease, she gets annoyed and raises her voice at him literally ONCE.
"SPAWN OF THE DEVIL!!!!" "BITCH WHO DESERVES NOTHING AND SHOULD DIE!!!" "CALLOUS AND UNCARING!!!" "SELFISH!!!" "STUPID!!!"
I'm going to add to this and say it drives me insane when people blame Zelda for causing the timeline split at the end of OoT. I've heard all sorts of versions of this, like She banished her hero from her! or She caused devastation in the adult timeline when Link wasn't reborn! that kind of thing, and always as if she knew that was going to happen. And the thing is...
DO THEY REALLY THINK SHEIK SPENT ANY TIME THINKING ABOUT TEMPORAL MECHANICS??!?!?!?!?!
No!!! Of course not!!!! Sheik was a ninja-in-hiding, not a physicist or sci-fi author!!! And she wasn't like Skyward Sword Zelda, who actually remembered being Hylia and might have been like "Wooah! Wait a second, this could cause a spacetime paradox!"
I 100% headcanon that when a truly-adult Link never wandered out of the woods to join her in the adult timeline, that OoT Zelda was utterly devastated, not understanding at least at first what had happened. Had Link died as a child? Was he angry at her, and never came to find her?
And maybe... maybe later... she starts to understand that she tore time apart.
All that said, I absolutely do baby and pity my Link. Poor lil guy. He gets all the turds.

TTTHHHHHAAAANKKK YOU for these tags about Hylia. I've been saying ts 😔 Genuinely think so much of the Hylia hate is rooted in misogyny, and then the other half is misunderstanding her entirely. And with that manga where she tells Link they're gonna be reborn together forever unconsensually, which people get on her ass for all the time... THAT MANGA. ISN'T. CANON. + condradicts skyward sword itself.
Demise was the one who ACTUALLY did that, but nobody's gonna point fingers at him! It's always HYLIA'S fault for everything for not stepping in and saving Link and Zelda from having to deal with Ganon or Aghanim or Majora.
