Potential Spoilers for Owen and Scott POV/backstories
both Owen and Scott knew Louis. Scott was the one to turn Louis. Louis had been sick for a long time and the sight reminded the vampire lord of a hurtful past of the ppl he failed and who refused eternity alongside him. A forgotten past of the Goldsmith’s name buried in the riches, glory, blood and torture he had spread.
That the white haired man would betray his sire and seal him in his castle. They haven’t agreed on torturing humans for a long time the younger vampire had desperately held on to his humanity not wanting to hurt humans despite the need to feed from them and he had found that animal blood could be a more sustainable source of food. Although the elder vampire refused to see the younger’s ways to comfortable in the living he had shaped with teeth and claws; and if given the chance the humans the younger loved so dearly would turn on him, to them they were like the undead creatures wandering the lands.
Louis sealed his sire away in his own castle, he couldn’t kill him, and so laid him to slumber with the help of the different villages of the valley. Over the next 400 or so years he would spend helping the humans of the valley and soon the villages grew stronger and united as the town of Oakhurst. A one day as the major of the town he took notice of a young man, he was sick and the sickness scarred his skin and flesh. The man was an outcast to the rest of the town’s inhabitants they feared his sickness. However Louis had now not felt any sickness or illness for centuries and had no fear of it as he reached out and invited the other man into his company, and the more the other visited the more his fondness of Owen grew he hadn’t realized how lonely eternal life had become, at the same time it hurt him more and more to see his dear friend suffer and so offered him the same life the still sleeping vampire lord once had given him.
Louis had thought over the years that perhaps if his former Sire could see the world he build alongside humans he would finally see that Louis had been right. However only a few days after bringing his dear friend Owen into their ranks the community and humans he had built and cared so much for had turn on him all he had done for them the sacrifices he had made and 400 years of work ment nothing to them, he was nothing more then part of the occult, another living dead, just like Scott had once claimed.
Owen didn’t let these greedy and ungrateful creatures go unpunished, 2799 humans died by the fletching claws and with that too died Louis’s life’s work.
200 years later Louis’s dear friend and dreadful sire would awaken alongside each other not knowing the history which connects them.
