Bay Leo: when I first met you, I thought you were weird and annoying
Rise Leo: and?
Bay Leo: and you are.
heyyy folks!
I don’t know how many of you all remember Riseverse (AKA, Of Two Negligible Souls and One Bestial Natblida), which is about Clarke and Lexa bringing Madi up throughout the Praimfaya years. (If you do remember, I love you.)
Anyways, I’ve just learnt about the 100 finale and I have many thoughts. Just about Madi and Clexa and everything. These thoughts make me want to finish off this fic, but for real. I just need a sort of canon divergence to deal with this all and honestly, so...
Expect an update in about a week!
Rise and Ground Zero
An AU @curseofbunny and I made, also for the spiderverse style meetup of bkdks
Rise and Zero aren't currently on speaking terms with each other.
Technically canon compliant up until the AFO fight and deku vs kacchan 2, this universe is one where everything fell apart.
Izuku and Katsuki independently blame themselves for All Might's loss of his powers and his death shortly after, and outwardly blame each other for everything else.
Izuku changes his hero name to 'Rise' and refuses to let anyone call him Deku.
Katsuki chose Ground Zero, and managed to get his pro licence just like everyone else.
They intern for other heroes, go on to become their own, and end up with the first (Ground Zero) and second (Rise) ranks.
They stagnate.
Neither of them talk, to each other or their friends.
They drift further from the people they cared about.
Shigaraki got AFO from his mentor, ran the League for another three years, and was killed in a fight with Rise alone. There was no one else to see, and no one knows.
The public and the league have been anxiously waiting for Shigaraki to resurface and attack again, while Rise threw himself into his work to avoid letting his thoughts spiral around what, exactly, he'd done and what it meant. What would happen when Shigaraki's body is eventually found. When he's exposed for being no better than the villains he fights.
Rise hadn't planned to survive that fight, he went in thinking he was going to die and then... didn't. He got all of his affairs squared away. He set up an automated mailing system to send presents to his mother and Katsuki on their birthdays, christmas/new years, and for mother's day...
And then he was left having to go on pretending that something happened.
He never told Zero where his quirk came from, or how it ties into why he blames himself for All Might's death
Or about how he'd found out his father's older brother was Enji Todoroki, and he'd modeled himself after the man in a desperate attempt to gain approval from someone who might not judge him for his failures.
Or that all he's really wanted, since they left middle school, was for Katsuki to apologize for acting like they could be friends outside of school but a bully and his favorite target inside. Or an apology for the suicide baiting he'd done before the sludge villain attack.
Something specific. Something to acknowledge that Izuku's feelings on those things are fair and understandable. To acknowledge that Katsuki knows he's done wrong and is willing to work on himself now.
But Rise's secrets would ruin that friendship before it could finish being rebuilt.
So he refuses to give Katsuki a chance to hate him properly. It's better to let a friendship slowly die of disrepair, than to let your best friend know just how far you've fallen, and how little they actually would even want to know you.
Katsuki, for his part, is overworking himself to try and fill the shoes he's been given. To live up to the title of #1 that he'd always known he wanted but never really thought about having until it was already his.
He hits too hard, goes too fast, does too much damage, but he's careful of civilians and keeps property damage to a minimum. Villains might need casts and braces and more medical attention, but he's careful never to kill them. He does his best to put on a smile for the media and keep himself busy. He's finally ready to patch up with Izuku, and... Izuku isn't having it.
He's even more antisocial than Katsuki had been in high school. He refuses to talk to reporters unless they're young, doesn't deal with civilians if he can help it, and is really only nice to kids.
He's... he's nothing like Katsuki ever pictured he'd be, as a pro, and it's...
It's disconcerting.
He doesn't like being on this side of wanting to talk, either.
Rise modeled himself after Endeavor, and Zero is modeled after a pro hero (OC) he interned for during second and third year, Bombadier.
I'll probably make a proper post for Bombadier later.
clexakru - pt. 2
Lexa: There was that one time when this girl called Clarke liked me—
Clarke: Of course I floating did and I still do now.
Lexa: Clarke stop interrupting. Anyway, Madi, she liked me, and I liked her back—
Clarke: Madi knows that Lexa, it’s really obvious—wait, what do you mean, liked?
Lexa: —until she spat in my face.
Madi: CLARKE!
Clarke: Oh come on! That was like three years ago! We’re totally over that now. Right?
Lexa:
Madi:
Clarke: Right?
Madi:
Lexa:
Clarke: Please tell me I’m right.
clexakru - pt. 1
Madi: Wait. The King of Azgeda was sent by the Commander to find you?
Clarke (chuckles): Now that you put it that way... yeah, she did. And that's a bad thing, 'cause it's stalking, and nobody should send someone to stalk someone else, ever.
Madi: Stalking is bad. Lexa sent someone to stalk you.
Madi: But you still like her a lot?
Clarke (stuttering): T-that's not the point, Madi!——the point is, the Heda was a stalker——
Madi (grinning): —— and then you became her girlfriend.
Clarke: ...
Clarke: ...
Madi: But she really cared, didn’t she?
Clarke (quietly): Yeah.
Later...
Lexa: Clarke. What were you speaking to Madi of I? I heard my name.
Clarke: Uh...
Lexa: ...
Clarke: ... Nothing?
Madi (gleefully): We were talking about how much you love her!
Clarke: ... oh god Madi shut up
ive just realised how ironic it is that i’m neglecting negligible... goddamnit
I don't mind waiting for however long but I hope someday you'll find the inspiration to finish Rise. I really enjoyed that series.
Oh, anon, thank you so much. I really loved that series too, and I would love to refind my love for it someday. <3
