Hi, I doubt I'll be able to return before my hiatus ends so I would like to drop Leonie, Olivia, and Beruka instead of holding onto them. Sorry to my thread partners and to anyone who was inconvenienced. I have no time atm but if possible I would like to be back someday! Bye for now!
Leonie, Olivia, and Beruka have been dropped and are now available!
🍌 : is my muse inclined to help others, or will they only do it when it benefits them, if at all? what makes them this way? has it ever gotten them into trouble, or inconvenienced them?
fruity hcs. ( also asked by @vermilique! )
that’s a bit of a ‘ depends ’ answer really! but i’ll try and articulate this as best as i can haha.
given how in-canon how much febail cares about kids, it’s very likely that he helps them out no matter what. it’s definitely inconvenienced him before and he’s willing to even compromise on his values.
Bloom: “Grmph… I had you summoned because I have a favour to ask of you.”
Febail: “What kind of favour?”
Bloom: “I need your help in bringing down the rebel army.”
Febail: “Not interested. Find another mercenary to do your dirty work.”
Bloom: “I understand you have several orphans under your care. It seems you could use the money. I hear your younger sister has resorted to theft to make ends meet. That doesn’t bother you?”
Febail: “Patty really goes out of her way for those kids… Hmph… we could use the cash.”
Bloom: “Then we have an agreement? You finish off Seliph and all the money you want is yours.”
here, it’s at least evident that febail has some kind of moral compass and he’s willing to draw the line in the sand. however, despite wanting to refuse the job to assassinate seliph, he reconsiders because of how much money it could bring him to help send to the orphanage. he’s willing to put them first, his own character second, and he even gets called out on falling from grace later on for being willing to take any job no matter how despicable.
Febail: “Patty! Are you stealing again!?”
Patty: “Yeah, just a little.”
Febail: “Well, knock it off! I don’t care if it is coming from the enemy.”
Patty: “You think I like doin’ this!? Do you have any idea just how low our army’s food supply is? That takes money!”
Febail: “Yeah, well, I caught a guy making fun of you. He said ‘It’s no wonder you became a thief with a pirate for a mum’. Of course, I floored the guy for saying that.”
we also see this inclination tends to rob him of thought entirely. the second he hears someone shit talk someone he cares about, in this case his sister, he’s not at all hesitant about starting in-fighting. he clearly also doesn’t regret it either. this 100% was a situation where he could’ve just ignored them, and patty herself was even ignoring the badmouthing (the only time she doesn’t ignore the insulting or let it roll off her back is when seliph is using his judgement against thieves to try and block her from joining the army), but febail can’t help but throw himself into trouble to defend others. his solution through and through when it comes to protecting and helping others is to get violent, and he always jumps at the chance to do it. he’s very much so inclined to help, but it’s not in the healthiest of methods unfortunately.
he’s likely been led down this path because he’s lived in a turbulent, violent world where the strong have always been the ones to prevail and the weak are the ones killed. the logical solution to protect the ones he loves then IS to get similarly violent. it’s likely the only way he knows how.
for people who are fully grown and he doesn’t care about though, he is not sticking his neck out. he’s choosing his battles, and being so quick to help anyone will tarnish his reputation as a tough hitman, revealing him to be sentimental and compassionate, two traits he thinks will absolutely tank his career if they ever get revealed.
🍓 : how is my muse typically seen by others? does it ring true to who they really are? does their reputation matter to them?

Hubert is, above all, mysterious. With the exception of Edelgard, few can figure out what he’s thinking or who he really is beneath the mask of respectful indifference. He’s also described as cold-blooded, and this is a trait even knights and other faculty notice. It wouldn’t take long for anyone observing him in a team exercise or in a mock battle to notice that he’s willing to put lives on the line to achieve goals, or sacrifice his companions to protect Edelgard. In canon, this and the rumors that he assassinated his father are ultimately what make him so terrifying to the adult characters in the game. For everyone else, his ghastly appearance and tendency to skulk about in the shadows are enough for them to write him off as some sort of nightmarish apparition.
Below the surface, Hubert is still cold-blooded, but he’s utilitarian, too. He’s a fearsome tactician because he’s willing to make the hard sacrifices, but these aren’t the tactics he jumps to first. As Edelgard describes him, he’s a reasonable and intelligent person, and examines all angles of an issue before making a decision. If he chooses to sacrifice a comrade, it’s because he sees this as the course leading to the least amount of destruction in the end. Still, he can do this without being too emotionally attached to the outcome (at least outwardly), and this is chilling for others to observe.
His cold indifference is also not entirely true, even though Hubert himself would prefer to maintain that part of his mask. In his supports we see that he does care about his classmates, albeit in his own way, and he would serve/protect them on the occasions that his energy isn’t spent on Edelgard. Similar to Ferdinand, Hubert would like to see his companions grow and improve, but he’s rather clumsy in his methods (e.g. scaring Bernadetta to make her stop wandering the halls with needles, telling Caspar that he’s an idiot who needs to keep his mouth shut). Still, it gets the job done, and he likes to be useful to those he considers friends.
As for his reputation, Hubert’s solo ending card states “though his ghastly appearance and imposing demeanor were ever feared, he paid his reputation little heed.” To the extent that being terrifying serves him, he has no reason to correct anyone’s perception of him. I always look at the epilogue cards as if they were written by a historian hundreds of years in the future, using what evidence they have to draw conclusions. In Hubert’s case, I believe he’s always been keenly aware of his reputation, and monitors it by listening to rumors/gossip, but it’s not something that he would be especially pressed to change. What others think of him doesn’t bother him, but he still uses what he knows others to believe to his advantage. For example, knowing that he intimidates certain people if he laughs a certain way. It’s useful. But if he didn’t know what affect that had, he would be less effective with it.
So... Yes, his reputation matters to him as a source of information, but he doesn’t curate it like one might to preserve their honor or integrity.
🍇 : how would my muse describe their childhood? how much has it impacted the person they are now, or will become as an adult? around what age did they or will they start to mature, and why? do they wish to go back to their days as a child, or have they embraced adulthood?
★ // FRUIT HEADCANONS. / @rivclry
these are all pretty loaded questions for leif and blend together, so at the risk of meshing stuff and going on tangents, i’ll split them up.
how would my muse describe their childhood?
looking back on it now when he’s older and understands context, leif would be able to describe his childhood for what it really was: a difficult time where every day was lived in fear of persecution. he’d readily admit though that his childhood was much, much harder for lachesis and especially finn than for himself ( and maybe nanna, though he wouldn’t try to speak for her ); he still remembers, especially many of his earliest years, a relatively innocent time before he knew what was going on and his own role in everything.
his earliest memories are largely benign, and he talks in canon about fondly looking back on warm, familial occasions with dorias, glade, and selfina. he also fondly remembers the years with the bishop of frest. even though, in the big picture, they were refugees who scraped by day to day, i don’t think leif himself recognized this during those early years, in large part because those around him, finn in particular, went to great pains to make sure leif didn’t suffer where they could, even, as canon tells us, going for days without food so that he would have something to eat.
so i think that even though he’d be able to now pragmatically say that his childhood was hard, he’d also emphasize that it wasn’t all gloom, and that there were still bright spots he holds closely to.
how much has it impacted the person they are now, or will become as an adult?
all of it, and immensely. leif exclusively has his upbringing to thank for the kind of person he is now. there’s multiple instances in fe5 where he says something along the lines of “[X person] helped me / sheltered me before, so i have to help them!” of course, this is indicative of leif’s innately magnanimous spirit, but i think it also speaks to his unique circumstances. he’s well aware that he would not have survived, would have been captured by the empire and killed long ago, if not for the selflessness of people who had little reason to aid him, but did anyway. this sticks with him over the course of his life, and he never forgets it. it’s the reason why he’s fairly unique among FE royalty in his ability to put himself in the shoes of even the lowest commoner and understand what it’s like to have so little that you have to live off the generosity of others.
i’m fairly certain august says something to the same effect in fe5, that leif has to use this unique circumstance of his to not make the same mistakes as his ancestors, who, for all their good intentions, still suffered from the ‘prince in his high tower’ problem that made them unable to bridge the gap between north and south thracia. because of his impoverished upbringing, leif is in a position to help the south thracians from a place of genuine understanding rather than as a rich king coming in to dole out alms for the third world country ( that he technically conquered ).
around what age did they or will they start to mature, and why?
while i think that leif in general has always been a pretty serious kid, having the bishop of frest, who at the time was the caretaker he’d had the longest and had been the closest to, sacrifice his life to execution to buy leif time to escape, was the event that took the last of his innocence and opened his eyes to what was happening around him. it was the first instance that keenly showed him his own youth and helplessness, as well as the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders, and the weight of the first of many lives that would be given so that he could fulfill that responsibility and hope they had in him.
do they wish to go back to their days as a child, or have they embraced adulthood?
a difficult question. i think leif would admit to both. part of him misses back when he didn’t have as many worries and could play make-believe stories with nanna and asvel and dream of battles grander than they ever ended up being, or even return to the simple life he had in fiana. he does, in some way, feel like he never got to have a childhood, which later in the war he realizes is hardly unique to him and that, in some ways, he’s fortunate to have had the people around him that he did have.
but leif is also sensible enough not to really long for that past nostalgia, anymore. he wouldn’t want to leave behind the people who are depending on him now, and he knows that his place is in fulfilling the duties and position he’s stepped into. leif might have been forced to grow up too fast, but he also has always wanted to grow up, to be ready, to be seen as an adult and fully capable. he doesn’t want to be a child anymore, or be seen like one, since for him that’s associated with vulnerability and, more importantly, with helplessness.
She knows it. She’s not a fool. She remembers Yuri. Remembers how it’s safer for Leonie not to know Bernie at all, to stay as far away from her as possible, to forget that Bernie ever existed.
Bernie was being selfish. But after the time they’d have, Bernie felt like she deserved it, just a little.
She sobbed and launched herself forward, wrapping her arms around Leonie as the smaller girl shook and sobbed against her chest. “W-we didn’t know where they were t-taking all of you! B-but you don’t have a crest, and they took you away, and I was so scared th-that...”
What is your least favourite thing about your muse? What makes them difficult to write, or interact with?
munday prompts
5. what is your least favourite thing about your muse? what makes them difficult to write, or interact with?
these are like three entirely separate questions, i feel like hahahaha. so i guess i’ll answer them as i interpreted them, because what makes a character difficult to write or interact with is not usually related to what i don’t like about them.
least favorite thing about felix is the way he handles pain. one of my longest standing headcanons about him is that he reacts to being hurt by hurting in return — a very ‘let’s see who can make the other bleed more’ reaction. i don’t think he’s aware that he does this, either, but it’s very pronounced and a kneejerk response for him, partially culturally ingrained by Fraldarius Mindset TM but also a byproduct of just who he is. gestures wildly at the sylvain fight mini. i can’t stand it HAHAHA. i personally can’t abide that kind of behavior even though i understand where he’s coming from and why he does it. every time i write him doing it i just want to THROTTLE HIM!!!! ahem.
what makes him difficult to write is his voice. after combing felix’s dialogue ad nauseum for 9 months, i’ve come to terms with the sheer inconsistency of it. his voice is incredibly difficult for me to capture on top of how hard dialogue in general is for me to begin with, and sometimes i just go ‘i don’t know if this sounds like him but sometimes his canon dialogue doesn’t even sound like him or something or it’s just inconsistent so just. fuck this.’
interacting? he has no interest in getting along with people or making friends or sticking around for something he doesn’t care about, and nothing in the world is going to sway him. really makes it hard to justify why an interaction would last more than 2 replies before he peaces out sometimes. but that’s just life when you write for Broody McSwordhands
unacceptable! absolutely unacceptable! why had no one alerted him of the unexplored terrain earlier?! now, this resort may not be of the empire (or even aegir for that matter), but the dubious ownership of this land does not stop ferdinand from appointing himself as temporary leadership. after all, there is no one better (and certainly not edelgard) to oversee this beach than ferdinand von aegir, future prime minister of adrestia and an exemplary icon of fodlan’s nobility. greenwood borders the destination many have declared their home for the duration of paradise, lush boscage bustle with the potential of incoming danger. iron lance equipped, it only takes a tick of a second before the adrestian elite rounds himself up a formidable companion. another minute and they are braving the unknown, venturing into the thicket to where the ubiquitous threat of a ferocious beast looms ‘pon their shoulders.
“you do impressive work with that bow of yours,” ferdinand acknowledges as he uses his lance to swat away intrusive branches. he steps over a protruding root and moves to the side, turning to watch his companion-- leonie-- overcome the minor obstacle as well before resuming his trek. outside of minuscule game, there is little danger to be had in the heart of the forest. utopian is the greatest definition for the land they’ve found themselves upon. it’s undoubtedly splendid, but another concern arises: is it sustainable? of course, as a vacation away from the bustle of their daily lives, it’s not as if ferdinand dreams for trouble! it’s just-- a bit unbelievable. alas, that just means there’s less a chance for this occasion to be spoiled!
“perhaps i’ll even take you as a sparring partner one day.” she’s not a typical opponent of his, far from noble-blood, but a bit of jousting between social classes does no harm. better yet, there is a benefit for both parties to be had! the common folk come to understand the splendor of nobility and, likewise, the nobility evaluates what the lower-class education lacks and thus issues orders to improve upon it. the girl may be from the leicester alliance, but an international contest had never harmed anyone! the thought summons forth newfound enthusiasm in the aegir elite, something to add upon his schedule, but it’s the appearance of an incline that then seizes his attention.
“aha, an interesting turn of events! it seems as if we’ve been granted a new elevation to explore,” ferdinand does not care to size up the pathway before him, choosing to rush towards the slope. he stops only to adjust his footing to ensure he doesn’t slip. with vigor, he continues to march forth. “make haste, leonie!” @rivclry
"Hey, Gaius!" She called out to the Seiros knight, waiting for him to look in her direction before she tossed him a bar of chocolate. "You like sweet stuff, right? Found this in some of the things Aeschylus gave us." A grin spread on her face and she approached her fellow ginger. Truly, Leonie was thankful for all that he did. If it wasn't for him, she was almost certain she wouldn't have made it out. For that, she wanted to give him a gift - a thanks of sorts. "Thanks. For everything."
“That’s one hell of an understatement there, Bambi.” He’d openly weep for the lack of it if he can. The dizzy spells were controlled by the sustenance from their rations, but it just wasn’t the same. He turns to look over and ask why she suddenly mentioned it, only to get hit on the face with... a bar of chocolate?
Nah. This was some kind of joke. He unwrapped the bar and gave it a whiff. It smelled like chocolate... it looks like chocolate. But does it taste like it--
One bite. One bite was all it took.
“....BAMBI! WHERE’D YOU FIND THIS?!”
Gaius was just... shocked. Absolutely shocked. In his hands was an actual chocolate bar. It didn’t taste funky like that chocolate he found on the floor-- most probably because it didn’t come from the floor. He needs to ration this properly. If he eats it in one go, who knows when the next time he’ll be able to eat another one.
Seiros pulled through. THE GODDESS TRULY IS WATCHING!
There’s a bit of a twitch in his noses, and he feels it coming. A stream of red pours down, but not because of injury. With one hand holding on to the chocolate bar, the other covering his soon bloodied nose, Gaius was at a loss on how to thank Leonie. He got way too excited for a moment there.
