ELIJAH ATKINS is an 18 year old PATIENT in the PSYCHIATRIC WARD. He has been diagnosed with NIGHT TERRORS and HALLUCINATIONS and he looks a lot like KJ Apa.
Elijah Atkins was everything that the other boys on his football team was not - brain smart. With two parents who were professors at the college he had always dreamed of attending, the youngest Atkins had goals and aspirations set in place from a very young age - where maybe on day, he too would become a teacher too - even if that meant just at a high school, working his way up to find the one subject he truly wanted to specialise in. He was at a stage where he was coaching all of the top dogs on his team... They taught him how to speak to girls and he taught them how to get through algebra. Although he wasn’t your typical ‘boy’ throughout school, he was somebody who made a huge difference to his team and those who surrounded him. He was empathetic, understanding and had a heavy heart; if somebody was hurt or upset, then he would be the first one there. Elijah Atkins really was an asset to his school and he was on his way to becoming something great.
WE HOPE THEY ARE PLAYING A GAME
Excited for the first family vacation that the Atkins family had planned in years after their incredibly committed work lives, Elijah left school early and walked back home where his bags were packed and his parents were waiting. With a hopeful smile, hands wrapped tightly around the straps of his backpack, the redhead bounced up towards his front door where somebody burst out of his home covered in blood, panic tainting their eyes. The young male who seemed just as horrified as he was had bolted before he even got the opportunity to take a second glance but what he had stumbled into was like something from a horror film. His mother laid there clutching her stomach, the floral shirt that she was wearing covered in a sickening red as a crimson blade rested beside her body. As he hand reached outwards towards him, Elijah realised that she was still breathing - still fighting. His father on the other hand, was taking his final few breaths and died looking up at his son whose tears were now streaming down his face. Unfortunatley for Elijah, his mother also passed away in the ambulance to the hospital - her hand wrapped around his.
BUT THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING
Searching for the culprit wasn’t easy, but luckily for the police, he had left a critical piece of evidence behind - the knife. Elijah faced many sleepless nights and not because he was up, tossing and turning... But because of what happened when he slept. He would relive that day sometimes; each horrible nightmare a different take. Sometimes, he was in the house when it happened and at other times, it was him holding the knife. As the trial revealed new evidence, it became apparent that the person who committed the sickening act was a student of Mrs Atkins - which truly solidified the entire incident for Elijah. His parents both loved teaching and inevitably, it was what killed them but Elijah had reached the point where his own love of going into it was lessening. He was struggling to find the passion to even think about education, let alone continue his own. But the nightmares weren’t the only thing that was weighing Elijah down... When he wasn’t sleeping and suffering, he was hallucinating. Dropping out from school, Elijah spent his days creating new scenarios in his head - picturing how things might have been different if it was him that took the attack. But there was no use in thinking about this and it was only making his hallucinations more vivid and real. With no immediate family to take care of him, the police consulted his next of kin when they realised how downhill Elijah’s life has been going - where she had recommended a local hospital to where she lived, Brielle Institute. Elijah was admitted almost instantly and given his scenario and explanation, was diagnosed with night terrors and hallucinations
Fortunately, Elijah is OPEN!
