                (/ the messages are old, remain untouched and unanswered on his phone for months. he didn’t think much of them at the original time they were sent. they used alternate message systems, group chats replied to with the intent of embarrassing Yixing and inciting an outburst from Luhan. on occasion, they’re the epitome of the eldest, middle, and youngest sibling dynamic. he and Luhan can’t stop yelling at each other, enraging the other without much thought, impulsiveness within two individuals overwhelming for one friendship, and Yixing, sweet, kind, and obviously dim according to Jongin because “he(Yixing) still gives a shit about him (meaning himself),” tries to manage the idiotic pair. the messages are old, apparently over three months old, and both males are gone but finally together in Changsha and Jongin takes his sweet time replying. now is as good a time as ever )

It’s not unusual for Sehun to think ofsome dumb ideas he believes to be brilliant but this time however, he stronglybelieved he’d thought of something beyond amazing that the snort Luhan had letout doesn’t even faze him anymore.

They’re on their third (probably fourthSehun wasn’t entirely sure) attempt of taking a video of him ripping somepapers into pieces mainly because Luhan thinks it’s a dumb idea like usual andhe keeps giggling at how ridiculous Sehun looks that the video’s either shakyor just plain blurred so they had to redo it again and again and again. Thankfullythis time he had manage to stay still long enough for Sehun to actually finishripping the paper in small bits and throws it like confetti around him.

With a proud smile he tweaks around anapp and uploads the video on his instagram, showing it to Luhan afterwards withthat usual mischievous grin he always had when things go according to hisplans. It was mostly the video playing backwards on normal speed so it lookedlike Sehun was putting the paper back together rather than ripping it apart. ToSehun it looked great, especially at the beginning where his hands seemed tohave sucked the tiny pieces of papers from mid-air before he starts puttingthem back to pieces.

“I take it all back. You are a genius!” Luhan said and Sehun’sgrin only grows bigger and even puffs his chest out proudly. He misses the sarcastictone of the sentence and the snort Luhan lets out before the older burst outlaughing.

It’s half past eleven when Luhan slips out of his apartment, clad all in black like he has somewhere to be with a stethoscope and a heightened sense of urgency and need to be inconspicuous. He’s aware that he looks suspicious, and it doesn’t help that he’s dressed in a black turtleneck and a beanie in twenty-four degrees celsius weather, but Luhan thinks the end game is worth it.

It’s the first time he’s done parkour since having surgery on his knee. He’s a little apprehensive about doing it, to say the least, but as soon as he hops over the fence and onto private property, he’s back to his old tricks, climbing ladders, scaling walls, flips and turns, a flurry of excitement and limbs, as if he’s exempt from the laws of gravity. The freedom with which he runs makes him feel alive.

It takes no time at all to reach the appropriate floor, and even less time to crack her bedroom window open. carefully, he slips into the room, movements as noiseless as possible. the lights are still on and the bed empty, which means she’s still awake, so he slips into her closet just as he hears approaching footsteps.

In the dark, he constantly checks his cell phone, and right on the dot, exactly at midnight, he springs forth from the closet, making as much noise as humanly possible, banging metal chopsticks against and the metal pot he had brought along with him.

“Lee Sungkyung!” he croons at the top of his lungs. “Happy birthday!”

life is best enjoyed in the company of others. basking in happiness only multiplied in the sharing with friends and family. so it’s precisely how she chooses to spend the momentous day, even if some of the planning is provided for her. parents surprise her out of work, flying in just for the weekend. time flies too quickly with those she loves and it’s with a bit of pity that she has to part with them so soon. jetlag brings them into the hotel earlier than her own schedule but that is of no big deal. with plans for one last half day together, she bids them sweet dreams and heads back to her own place.

minutes tick by in the unknowing of the surprise to come, distractions holding well in the form of videochatting with friends. it’s only with a scream that she breaks the conversation when unexpected figures jumps out of the room. heart slams against her chest as recognition slowly overtakes and shaky breathes turn into fits of laughter. “dammit luhan! you made me drop my phone.” she complains between laughs, looking quite the fool on the floor as she throws a piece of lint at him.
