He had heard about the article that had mentioned his past and his name. It actually had kinda surprised him that fans of the show praised him for telling about the death of his parents and for crediting his family for becoming who he was now. Not that it was bad to gain some attention from the public, or support, but to be supported for what had happened long ago was somewhat surreal to him. It was not like he wasn’t grateful for their support and for those strangers to feel inspirated and maybe strengthened by his story and by the love towards his past parents and his grandmother. He might even be a example who might had experience a similar situation of losing an important family member too early.
But it still seemed not right to him to be recognized more for his past than for what he showed on stage. It actually quite bothered him.
And when he conquered the streets of hongdae together with his team, to promote the show and Elly-noona’s and Jihyun’s performance, it annoyed him even more. Ahjumma’s who told him how handsome he was and how brave for growing up to be a decent adult. People who pitied him and still admired how he was able to be such a good person.
His feelings were totally true, when he had told the interviewer about his past. He had loved his parents more than everything else and would even die for his grandmother out of gratitude, but at the same time, even when he most of the time saw that friendly smile on his face, looking at him straight out of his mirror, he knew that wasn’t the only him hidden inside. It angers him, when people assumed to know who he was when just looking at one small fragment of his childhood. Beside him there were other names mentioned and especially Kwak Heeo seemed to had caught the eye of these people. But other than him, she was slaughtered, a target, a scapegoat for the bad today’s youth represented. Kang Joon didn’t feel much about her, he didn’t pity her, but also didn’t rage over her. She was just a person to him, someone who had already lived through much obstacles, despite of her young age. And a person who he actually could identify with.
And yet, all these people out there were only focused on the superficiality that were reflected on their dead eyes, failing to see his and their own twisted minds, while keeping up their sanctimonious facade and pointing their fingers at people like Heeo who were covered in scars.
