「  Be My Last 」
⇢ Royal Eval June 2k20 | +3 CH ; +2 DB ; +1 Wk High Notes
⇢ Yuzu branching out once a mothereffin’ gain [ Q & A | Peppermint Chocolate ]
“ once again she signed up for two projects, not knowing she would be working on a third. ”
as the end of the month came around, yuzu was confident in her groups and her own skills to perform well. despite a million things swirling around in her mind; from worrying about gahyeon and her both making it into heartz, over how the other royal girls would feel once they found out they had auditioned to how this could be her last eval under royal and dowoon was the only fellow trainee she worked with for this potentially last month.
being a usually loyal and honest person, she almost felt like she was cheating when she kept her audition to herself from the boy who had gotten in trouble along with her.Â
she made sure to push all these thoughts away though as she prepared for her performances. while q&a was technically her baby, she made sure to invest equally as much time into preparing for both performances, even when her own chosen song was the harder challenge for the triple threat. hitting these high notes and mirroring the vocal strength to match her own raspy voice was something she had to work with a lot of confidence to pull it off.Â
the boys had been nothing but sweet during their rehearsals though and even while she performed with them, she was glad to have won them over for this eval. chris and vok were both in sphere and she couldn’t help but wonder if she were to see them more often in the future months to come.
waiting for results really wasn’t her strongest skill.Â
on the other hand performing with seokwoo felt almost easy, granted the two had been friends for so long. it made dealing with her guilt towards dowoon almost easy. calming her mind with the thought she didn’t want to wake sleeping dogs, the female let herself go through that vocal performance easy as well. the added dash of rap a welcome change to mix things up. not getting to dance for this month again was a bit of a bummer for the girl who wanted to improve the steadiness of her vocal performance while dancing but at least that way she could confidently deliver without having to worry about any wavers in her voice.
at the end of the day yuzu was satisfied with both her performances. only a few days now till she’d find out if that would be her last eval under royal.Â
once she was alone to herself, standing in front of the royal building the female sighed. perhaps all her worries would be for nothing and she wouldn’t get chosen but it sure did feel like a goodbye regardless.
Lee Daehwi ft. @rksxngyeol, @rktaeyang & @rkxskm
Performing Boy in luv & Danger & I need you by madtown
Guitar arrangement by Sungyeol ft Taeyang & Seokwoo
Lyrics reference
The prospect of a competition within the companies was kind of exciting to day the least. Daewhi would have thought he’d have enough of competitions by now, but he could feel the bubbling sensation in his stomach whenever he thought about having to pit themselves against other people. In the end there was probably nothing to lose but the prize for winning seemed pretty interesting. It wasn’t that he had been a trainee for long and was already longing for the time off that wasn’t granted to them usually, but he was sure that some of his seniors that he had to work with had such a sentiment. So he was definitely going to do his best. Only problem was just that at the end of the day, Daehwi was more of a dancer than a vocalist and this time he would not be evaluated for it even if he did dance.
Instead he had got to watch very closely as his seniors were working. Quite quickly they had decided to do an acoustic medley, using Taeyang and Seokwoo’s skills on the guitar as well as Sungyeol’s knowledge when it came to music arrangement. Everything almost went down too easily as they already had decided upon songs and theme before the day of the announcement was even over, leaving only the deal of actually composing the acoustic arrangement and figure out how to do the harmonisation.
But Daehwi couldn’t help but wonder what his part in all of this was. He couldn’t do fancy things like the others could when it came to making music, he couldn’t hit the high notes Seokwoo could, didn’t have any knowledge on how to uphold second voice and could only really do the base vocals. But one thing he could do, he came to realise, was make sure the mood was good between everyone. Daehwi was a boy with practically endless energy, and he liked to believe that his high spirits were contagious to the rest of the group.
But was that enough for him?
He felt rather much like a side character, not in the spotlight, not getting to show off what he could truly do. And that kind of sucked. But Daehwi also knew that this time wasn’t his, that he still would have lots of time to show off in the future. He couldn’t win every time after all. As long as they got the overall win he didn’t care about not having been of much overall use. Not everyone in an idol group could procure the same results every single time after all, so he just had to get used to being a smaller character.
But that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to take it seriously. Everyone had worked so hard to get a good result and the last thing he wanted to do was be the one who ruined it. In a way it also felt like a huge burden to carry on the legacy of Madtown of all groups, but Daehwi believed that if anyone could do them, it was them. They were the future of Nova after all. And suddenly he realised that for the first time since getting signed, Daehwi actually felt comfortable by calling himself a Nova trainee. For once he hadn’t thought about being a better fit to Royal. For once he thought that he would actually want to be together with these hyungs in the future.

Lee Seonghwa alias GRAY
June Evaluation 2020
Song: PENOMECO X DEAN X ZICO - WHERE ě–´ë””
Line Distribution |x|
oddly enough the two of them hadn't worked together that often, even though there had been a few occassions before. but despite everything he had to admit that they should have done it way earlier, as they had shown quite compatible teamwork. compared to may preparation had went by smoothly, after just a handful of suggestions they had agreed on the collaberation. it was a easy-going and light song, one that he found quite fitting to the two of them. seokwoo had asked if it was alright if he took some of the rap lines and to gray it served no problem at all. of course he wasn't as good at singing as the younger male, but he was confident enough to pull a few lines live. it was not like he was completely horrible after all, and besides, he didn't wanted to be just shrugged off as someone who just knew how to do one thing. he wasn't that shallow, there were a lot of more shades to him than most would suspect.
greeting his friend with a fist bump in front of the seocho building at the end of the month, they went in together, getting ready to enter one of the practice rooms to showcase what they had been working at. the coaches called them in and with a bow they told them what kind of song they had prepared for them. the two of them received a signal to begin.
the melody started and seokwoo hit it off with smooth adlibs. gray stood next to him, bopping his head to the beat, when his part began and he showed off his singing first hand, followed by rap lines. he walked around the room, jumped, pointed at the coaches, to the ceiling, gestured the towards his partner. the song had a relaxed flow, gave off a summer vibe that expressed the joy of freedom. lyrics of not caring about the world and just enjoying being together and having their friends around them. it was reflecting his current mood.
